original versus replica?

i know a lot of people are against it, but is there really anything wrong with carrying around designer replicas when you can't afford the real thing? i bought a knock off stam by marc jacobs last summer and i absolutely adore it, but my brother says its tacky to carry around fakes. what do you guys think?

I'm not one to actually care what or if someone is carrying a replica or not...I don't really pay that much attention....However, I am so self conscious that I fear and feel that if I should carry one, I'd probably stick out like a sore thumb...Its like who really cares what people think right? I love love classic bags, and as I get older, I find myself recently buying from only one or two designers....I would love to try other interesting fun styles but not willing to commit thousand of $$$$$ to something I know I'd be tired of in say 2 months.........I really need to try the replicas and forget about feeling self conscious....

i can't quite remember the site i went through last year, but the stam replica i bought only cost maybe around $70 ($40 originally, the s& cost added a bit since i rushed it) and it's actually pretty decent! the only major difference is the chain is more brassy than gold looking and it's slightly larger than the one on the stam but all in all it's actually pretty cute and no one really noticed the difference!

bags cost way too much these days. if you can get the same or very close in quality for 1/10 the price, why not??? especially if it's something trendy like jules4u said, it's not worth spending that kind of money on something you'll get tired of a few months later.

i tend to toot my own horn versus following the crowd but when it comes to purses i just tend to buy in bulk and then never use a few of them until months later, hence why the replicas are definitely cheaper and a much better way for me to go.

because we've had too much heated debate regarding replica and authentic bags, threads like this are not allowed...
if you are looking for a replica bag, you can visit the ioffer thread...
