getting the size/proportion right for your own proportions is actuallly quite tricky and makes a big difference in the overall 'style/chic-ness' of a 'look'...IMHO...
So what proportion would you define as the right proportion (against a person's height) ?

I like big bags, not too big but deinfitely not the ones where you almsot don't have place for anything other than a wallet. I agree that big bags can look strange on a lot of girls that are petit. I myself am quite tall and I think that a too small bag looks just as strange on me.

But then again I don't think that if you really love big bags that you should keep away from carrying them just because you're not 6 ft tall. As long as you don't overdo it completely.

Maybe when Ashley gets tired, she curls up in that bag for a little nap . She looks ridiculous with that bag and I bet she has to wear a counter-weight on the other side for balance .

No wonder she is so short - the weight of her ridiculously big bag (and its counter-weight) is stunting her growth

I bought a HUMONGOUS Camilla Staerk canvas tote...it's not really 'it' but it holds all my stuff that I lug around. Literally, it's about half my size but it's not 'it' or anything...quite plain and simple.

that is geometry and is obviously relative to the size of the individual...
there is not way to answer that question without specifics...:p

but i think it's a 'visual' thing that isn't really THAT hard to see...
at least not for me anyway...
if you have a good sense of space and proportion...you should be able to tell...

generally, nay. i can't carry big bags on a daily basis. they look rediculous on me. i'm close to the 5 ft range. also i don;t carry many things at all.. a wallet, keys, sometimes water, book, lip stuff. i could fit my stuff into a pouchette if i wanted. :p i never found that i needed to carry many things, hence my lack of need for a ginormous bag.

yay is to when i have to go somewhere overnight or a trip for a few days, or a carryon when flying..
or a tote when i have to go to class.

other than that, i live in california and we ride in cars.. so i luckily do not have to bring big bags full of stuff. i read somewhere that some women have to bring shoes, workout clothes, files, makeup bag, wallet, books, and some other things in their bags. iw as like WOW

Also...was gonna say, most Japanese girls who are very petite like to carry VERY big totes - quite basic looking bags but they are HUGE! I've adopted the same thing from a practical perspective. Somehow, I don't really care about the bag swamping me even though I know it does.... I'm very much for the big bag..... but that's just my inelegance....

i think big bags can look good on certain people but I think it depends on how they carry them....i.e if they are carried with confidence rather than as if they are lugging around a bag thats more a hinderence than a help. A bag ought to be something which is practical (it is after all to carry things around in) and I find oversized bags just a bit of a pain because they are so big even if you are the kind of girl who trots around with everything but the kitchen sink, its a complete pain trying to fish things out the black hole like depths of these bags......

But they do look good on some people.....

I think it really depends on the need...I mean buying a huge bag just because it's "in" is not neccessary, I think a bag can be as big as you can fit everything you need in there. If you only carry say, a make-up case, wallet, sunglasses, cell, and some agenda, then anything bigger than the Balenciaga office is too big...A bag can only be too big if you can't utilize its space wisely. So if you are a small person who NEEDs to carry tons of things then maybe you need to get that XXL muse but if you only need 1/4 of that space then it's a waste of money and space...

I love big bags!! I think the second one is a good average size for a big bag.
