although i love margiela's clothing, i have to say that i feel his jewelry items lack innovation. i am a vintage jewelry collector and a lot of his jewelry designs have been done before numerous times over the past several decades.
i think his bottle cap bracelet and ring aren't really that exciting as vivienne westwood did a bracelet a little while ago featuring a dented bottle cap design.
i did also see a margiela "spoon ring"--made by cutting off the top part of an old silver spoon handle and forming it into a finger ring. well these have been around for decades. i know that the concept--remaking some old thing into a "new" wearable object--is part of his philosophy, but either margiela is hoping nobody realizes this is not an innovation, or he is just not familiar with jewelry history.
so i am just kind of disappointed with mmm jewelry.
I agree with fashion.fashoff. When looking at the pictures it made me think more of vintage copies, than of new designs.
But I do like the triple ring and bracelet, and would like to see someone wear it.
Now for the Gift bow ring (don't know if anyone have done this before) that one I really like .
yeah, the silver spoon idea has been done so many times, I have one that belonged to my mother. While all of the items are pretty and I like them, they all look like things I could find at my local arts fair...not what I would have expected!

my friend was wearing a margiela ring the other day but i cant find a pic of it anywhere!
it was a simple silver (or white gold) thin band with a pearl UNDERNEATH the band, yep underneath. so the band was more of an oval shape so the pearl could sit under it and neatly meet the top of the finger.
pics anyone??!!
