Nikon D40
Anyone have one of these lovely cameras?

I just bought mine a few weeks ago, and I'm in with it! It's such a great digital camera, for a lot cheaper than most digital SLRs! I'm having so much fun playing with mine.

Anybody else own one? I figured this would be a great place to share tips and tricks, as well as photos.

I've only had the chance to shoot with this camera one time, as I've been soo busy! But here are the results from that, from my sister's highschool graduation:

Love the clarity, and how fast the shutter is on this camera! Every detail is captured perfectly, and the colors are really great, don't you think?

Great photos!

The Nikon D40 is the camera I'd like to get next; I've heard great reviews on it.

By the way, how big is the camera? Is it average size (compared to a generic digital camera)?

^ They're kind of big...I know a girl whose mom has one. If you have a big purse I guess you could put it in there though. But you couldn't take it to, say, if you were going to dinner and carrying a clutch.

I want one so bad

The camera is on the small end of digital SLR's, but big as compared to what most people think "digital cameras" are. If you carry a big bag, you'll be fine.

Thanks for the info! I'll have to look into these. I take many photos of all sorts of subjects, so I probably wouldn't mind having a slightly larger camera.

I got the D50 just before the D40 came out. The D40 is even more aimed at the average consumer. The colors look saturated to their tastes.

I just got a D40x today. I'm used to using cameras in the entry level range ($100-$200) and am no means even a mediocre photographer, but I'm really impressed by how great the pictures are! I've only tried it in low-light conditions, but I can't wait to try outdoors tomorrow.

I remember the first day I got my camera, I took like 200 photographs in the first 30 minutes lol.
