I get bored periodically too, and remove it. Luckily, it's always stayed open for me, which is convenient. You need to get it done professionally as well.
I've had my "cartilage" pierced for YEARS...probably over 10 and I havent put an earring in over 2 and its still opened. for some reason, it bothers. i also couldnt sleep on my left side (where i have the piercing) for a while and i couldnt talk on the phone on that side because it bothered. the piercing isnt painful at ALL!! but its a B* after.... atleast it was to me!

go for it if you like it...my friend pierced mine, but maybe its better to have it done by a professional since its cartilage and can shatter...you cant see it on my ear, but you can feel where the piercing used to be.

I would recommend getting a hoop put in when you get it pierced because every time I try and put a stud in mine, it hurts like crazy. I got mine done at Claire's which I know you aren't supposed to do, but they pierced it with a stud. Anyway - it didn't hurt to get it pierced, the heeling part certainly did though. At least when trying to lay on that side on my body.

i dont think i'd get a hoop because its tricky because i play soccer

easier with a stud to tape it down then a hoop..

I'm thinking about getting it done more the i am not

just gotta get some money lol

The ear lobe is all soft and fatty and useless and strikes me as a good place to pierce whereas the top of the ear just sounds a bit painful...

I remember when I was in high school - yes, during the 90s - every girl had that piercing (accept me of course - mom thought it was tacky)! Nothing more to say really, just thought your comment was funny

I have it I had it done my right ear first and it blew up, now I have it on my left (and the right closed and healed nicely)...I did it with a gun though, so if you go to a professional with a needle it probably won't blow up

Doesn't hurt, just small itchy feeling which takes a day to go away

I think if you like it, get it! You can always take it out if you change your mind later. But as others have said, definitely go to a professional piercer and have it done with a needle. It's so much safer and less painful than having it done with a gun.

I have a rook piercing in my left ear which I LOVE because it's so much more unique and subtle than the usual cartilage piercings that everyone has.
I'm too lazy to take a picture of mine but it looks just like this: http://www.bmezine.com/pierce/01-ear...megl067499.jpg
