Swarovski partners with up and coming designers for jewelry collection

Swarovski anoints the Next Bold Things to make jewelry...

In some ways, the fashion world is a bit like the Big Brother program: established companies are always looking for an underling to adopt and help foster. Atelier Swarovski is no stranger to this trend, and for the third time has launched a collection of jewelry created by some up-and-coming designers.

This time around the crystal-wares giant collaborates with high fashion favorites Christopher Kane, Giles, Doo.Ri, and Jonathan Saunders, jewelry designers Justin Giunta and Pippa Small, and Dutch designer Tord Boontje. The groupís eclectic mix is reflected in the collection, which is refined and funky at the same time.

In his second collaboration with Swarovski, Christopher Kane creates his collection using crystal mesh, pearls, and resin. Jonathan Saunders mixes leather, brass and ceramics with an ďancient, earthy color paletteĒ to create edgy trinkets, rings and cuffs that remind us a little bit of Givenchyís big metal grommets.

Doo.Riís pieces are light and interesting, combining Lucite with vividly colored crystals to give the effect that the gems are floating. Going a darker route, Subversive jewelry designer Justine Giunta created a chunkier, Baroque style collection featuring strange-but-fascinating crystal button headpieces.

But itís Giles Deaconís Disney-on-crack designs for the crystal giant that we canít stop drooling over. There are chokers, bracelets, cuffs and key rings, all adorned with a Japanese anime character named ĎEek.í Which is exactly what the NYLON girls said when they first saw the pieces.

Oh, and Colette is stocking the collection Ė which, in case you didnít know, means it must be really cool.

Hey.. am liking the new look.
Are those black and blue crystals. I like swarovski jewellery because its so wearable.
When I wear them people mistake them for diamonds .. and am thankful they are conflict free :-)

thanks for bringing this up soft
the atelier has already teamed up with some designers such as Marios Schwab of which I have the pearl harness from this season.
i have seen the Giles Deacon Eeks and they are so much fun!!!
the Christopher Kane collection is slightly repetitive and for its design overpriced (as is the Eek collection)
but i just must own an Eek keyring and a multi Eek bracelet. I have the prices somewhere just cant think right now

I used to work for Hugo Boss and they are also doing a jewelry line with them. I am excited to see what it looks like, supposed to be out next month! I love Swarovski!
