^ I think they're cute, laurette, and would work for a lot of people I love Mary Janes and have been wearing them as long as I've been wearing shoes

Now I have the Fergie song "Mary Janes" in my head. "Oh, oh, my Mary Janes!"

^ Well, it could be something besides the shoes talking, right? It takes awhile to develop personal style, and confidence in it, and then of course, the second you do that it evolves

Btw, I added another piece to my spring wardrobe ... a silver grey silk/cotton Paul & Joe blouse ... finally a statement piece! I was shopping for a skirt, but ... the blouse is what I found ... what can you do but work with it

a little update: I bought the shoes.
This is how I wore them to school, I got a lot of weird looks
I'm wearing this underneath, somehow you can't see it in this pic.

I'd love to see your blouse too, fashionista-ta, it sounds cute

Well, this is not exactly it ... the style but not the fabric, and not how I'm going to wear it ...

My fabric isn't sheer, and has a bit of a shine to it & is paler. I plan to wear it on the shoulder ... that way it dips in front & back, and you can see the bows from the front. Also, since I have hips & the model doesn't, the torso of the blouse kind of ruches at the waist.

It is such a cold spring that I haven't been able to wear it yet, but I think it should work with either black or orchid. I want to get some heels to go with--either metallic, grey patent, black ... something along those lines.

PS Very cute, laurette

I have almost the same blouse! It is white and "real blouse fabric" and from my granny, but the cut is almost the same. That's funny
(I like your blouse, it sounds nice. I don't like the sheerness of this model, though).

laurette you actually wear them really well!

fashionista-ta: love that top! I can imagine it with some black or dark grey cropped skinny trousers.

i have to go through this thread to see if anyone else has posted the # of items in their closet.

i edited down my wardrobe to the 34 pieces i felt were substantial enough to carry me. detailed in my blog below.

HiHeels, your blog is awesome!! I'm your repeat "anonymous who needs to get an id" btw. I think that even though our style is very different I am learning quite a bit as you go along. I've been trying to integrate the ideas on this thread scince it's inception so your blog is a handy companion. I really look forward to seeing what you come with and am in awe of 34 pieces only.

I've learned a couple of things so far...listing clothes identifies wardrobe holes, eliminates pieces not worn, identifies actual outfits as opposed to the fantasy ones I'm always buying for identifies fashion don'ts for my particular body (which leads to more elimination of unnecessary items)

I was cringing adding up my wardrobe until I realized that many of the items are multiples as in 4 black tanks, 6 white tanks, multiple Ts, jeans ect. I almost figured out that since I do laundry for 6 people, multiples of the items are worn most make sense. Still....I have a desire for a perfectly edited down wardrobe which is why I love your blog so much. GOOD JOB!!

omgd, midnight, how cool. so glad to "meet" you.
ah, your feedback is invaluable!!
definitely, definitely actually seeing what you have makes you a better dresser AND shopper i think. a closet doesn't have to be a black hole.
how would you describe your style?
i definitely think that multiples of certain basics is helpful, but with a washer/dryer, it doesn't have to be multiples of 10.
and there are certain pieces that go farther than others, and if the goal is a well-edited, flexible wardrobe, then shopping with an eye for things that can convert a bit is also useful - can something be worn a variety of ways.
and really tossing the stuff you're not wearing (and won't wear) is soooo helpful (and sooooo hard).
okay, someone stop me. lol
