Would anyone mind helping me if I posted a picture?
if they are skinny enough, you could wear them under a short dress/tunic maybe... i was kicking myself a few weeks ago for buying a $15 t-shirt that i just absolutely did not need. total superfluous purchase. it wasn't even my style, but it was soft, and long... i decided i would sleep in it. but i'm still annoyed that my brain was turned off when i bought it. that happens.

hey purdles, I have a similar problem at the moment
I used to hate skinny jeans (pants in general on me) and have been wearing only dresses and skirts for almost a year now, but today I tried on a skinny jeans and it looked quite good imo.
I didn't buy it yet b/c I'll fly away this weekend and I'll go shopping there...
Posting a picture would be good

Oh, and I'm thinking of getting ankle boots too but I'm not sure whether to buy a pair with heels (look better) or w/o (comfier)...

I'm thinking about buying a pair - only to wear under boots. They are on sale enough now-a-days, I wont feel bad.

I would like to see a pic.

i haven't really been thinking about spring/summer yet. i could go for a new pair of sandals, since my old ones are wearing out after a few years' of usage.

my question is, is there anything spring/summer-y that are 'investments'? i always find that the clothing is more 'disposable' in the warmer seasons for me, simply because the fabrics are thinner, wear out faster and just wearing things in the city heat makes them get yuckier faster. since i'm pretty content with my wardrobe, maybe i'll just take my whole budget and invest in a new bag...
Most types of shoes, tropical weight wool pants, some skirts, certain blouses would qualify ... you do have a point, of course, and I have the same issue--I guess we all do. It's one of the disadvantages of living in a warm climate that you have this problem for most of the year ... I think several years' wear from a pair of sandals is a success

Winter just started here love. Rain, cold...etc. It will be July before we get spring over here!

ETA: With that said, I wont pass up on good deal for dresses and shoes, but I'm still buying sweaters and boots.

part of my buy-less strategy has been to not get off-season items. i miss some deals this way, but i've noticed in the past that when the season came around for the item i had purchased long ago, i usually don't wear it as much as i thought i would. and this strategy also forces me to focus on items that will be immediately useful.

that said, i'm eyeing a pair of sandals that just came up on yoox. i might make an exception...

man, but i want to be thinking about spring and summer. it just doesn't last long enough here for me to justify it. i'm still paring down my texas wardrobe (full of shorts and skirts) to be more functional for up here in the nw.

I went shopping the other day because my mum wanted to buy me something anyway i tried on somethings i'd been eying off and they didn't really suit me. Then i nearly impulse bought a whole lot of things i didn't need or want because my mum was paying. In the end she gave me the money to save for what i want thank goodness!

I'm not a chick but I try not to buy a lot of clothes because I often regret it later. I stick to the basic $20 plain shirt and jeans or Polo shorts or something like that.

I'm starting to look at shoes in the designers Resort collections as they come in. A bronze metallic heeled sandal would dress up several outfits that I already have very nicely.

For the last several months I've been hard at working losing 15 lbs (I know weight talk isn't allowed but this is pertinent to the subject) so I'll have to replace some basics this year. I'll replace two pair of white denims and two pair of khaki slacks. I have three cotton a-line skirts which I'll have taken in. Those 7 bottoms, plus one denim a-line skirt that needs no alteration, should work for me for casual every day. All of my tops still fit, they just fit better than last year.

So my list for spring and summer looks something like this:
* a spring weight trench or walking jacket in orange
* an a-line dress for day and casual evening events; small print or solid
* a top, jacket or skirt in a fabulous ethnic or ikat print (this is one of those "I'll know it when I see it" items)okay, maybe more than one!
* a standout piece of jewelry such as a necklace that will add uniqueness to my basic outfits in neutral colors.

This is really a begninning list, I expect it to grow a bit. I'm really trying to focus on purchasing a few high impact items that can be mixed with my neutral colored bascis wardrobe to give me a more individual look.

I am But really, there is almost no difference between winter and summer in Denmark anymore. It's always cold and rainy. Summer is like winter without tights and boots

I am skipping the light blue jeans for now. I'm really, really sick of skinny jeans. I might buy a tank dress or two, maybe in purple or even pink My mom gave me a great silk scarf, pretty huge, black in the ends and then it fades into purple and then into red in the middle. Kinda hard to explain, but it looks SO good with black, blue, red, pink and purple.

That's a wonderful idea. I've loved many of the Etro collections over the last several years.

Does anyone keep a "lookbook" of some sort with photos of outfits that fit your personal style? I think I should start keeping photos of outfits that are very "me" to get a clear idea of my personal preferences. Sometimes I buy stuff because they look pretty in the store and fit me alright, but then I end up not wearing them because it doesn't really have a place within my wardrobe. I seriously have pieces in my closet that I've NEVER worn out. Ugh, and I wonder why my bank account is so slim...
