Softgrey, I never said wearing a g-string or underwear was a trend!
I was only having a bit of a giggle that Brits was showing, and that it was purposely done.

I never said that any of them were new trends.

Also, why is it any different to be layering mesh as opposed to any other material? It is still considered layering. I was merely trying to show a few different type of ways people layer things...

It was not my intention to be critiqued for things I have not implied.
welll...since the thread is about trend spotting...it was my understanding that we were talking about new trends...isn't that what trendspotting means?!?!...sorry if i didn't understand your point...what was it again?...

the original post was specifiacally about layering tops and tanks...so i was just going with that ...

Okay, guys, okay! We're all friends here and that's why we love it, remember?

Layering may not be a new thing in general, but my school has just caught on recently in new ways. This fall and winter have brought forth so much layering of tshirts with long-sleeved tshirts, which just hasn't been preppy enough for my school until now I guess. Granted, most of the t's are the same ones that everyone wears from Urban Outfitters...but we're working on that, I hope. The look shown on Amanda Bynes has been done for ages in my school (soooo sick of it) and is in fact a bit 'out' now (or at least the large group of gilrs who used to do it have moved on).

Fruits, I love the Japenese street style pictures that you posted. Do you have any pictures of summery versions? I would love to see them for ideas if you can find them.

i think it only really works in the new gap ads and on the catwalk-and if u get the colours right. it adds bulk too so i think you should be very comfortable with your figure before layering it all on.

nice layerings can look absolutely fantastic, but don't like those that are overly done --- something I find in some Japenese street style, they tend to layer LOTS of stuffs in different colors, that's too busy for me
and I don't like any of the layered looks among the first posted pictures.

I love this look
Not too fond of the other looks, but I absolutely adore this. Polos over long-sleeved tees, polos under oxfords, polos layered with polos (collars up!). Kind of a twisted preppy look - I'm all for that!

Oh, I do love it. I do that when I run out of creative ideas..
Some don't look as good as others, though. Jap street style is the best example of perfect layering..

I layer all the time!! I especially love a tee, a blouse and then a blazer.. and then a coat.. and a scarf..

This new "trend" of layering tanks is cool, too. Of those posted originally, I only like the third picture, but I have seen it around and it's so cute. I'm going to try it with really loud colors.
