Maybe this belongs in the "trend-spotting" thread, but I'm curious to see if the visible garter belt trend will catch on as fashion journalists are predicting. If it does, it will be such an entertaining, polarising trend, akin to "aargh, leggings are not pants!!"

I doubt I could pull this off, but something I've done for years is wear a garter belt over a flimsy chiffon skirt. The garter belt appears like a regular belt and the straps attached to the fabric create a curtain-drapey effect. Discreet but sexy, because garter belts always imply sex.

funny- i didn't see anything written about garter belts or anything...
but i have recently been thinking about them a LOT...
i am really feeling the sexy secretary look right now...
and garter belts are just a natural part of that...
unfortunately- in real life they are usually pretty uncomfortable...

I agree soft... They look fantastic, but for day to day wear I just don't find them practical... I also agree with the talk of the oversized mens shirt. I find them incredibly sexy, either with lingerie underneath, or your every day cotton boylegs... It's all about the attitute you wear with it
Speaking of garters, I've been obsessed with this look lately from YSL in 2001.
From the front it's completely sedate...
then from the side, not so much...

It's decidedly not for everyone, but I think there's something so erotic about it. I may have to change my position on the back being the most seductive view for a woman...
