^Thank you so much for the suggestion! I've worn wellies in the snow though and they're super cold! Though mine weren't lined or anything.

I've now moved to London. I own a pair of Hunter boots for the snow. I have no idea how to dress for cold weather! although i have been here for one and a half years now... I still dont have much of a winter wardrobe. I own too many summer clothes that I need to throw out - they just never get worn¬

I think it's about time to bring back this thread. It's starting to get a bit cold where I live and I'm looking forward to the winter. Anyways, my question is regarding winter boots. I have a pair of L.L. Bean wellies which I wear with a liner or with wool socks my mom knit. I love my wellies a lot but I was thinking of purchasing a pair of Bean Boots by L.L.Bean, 8'' Thinsulate's. Since where I live gets quiet snowy I'd like to have the ability to mix it up once in awhile and not always be stuck wearing my wellies. So what do you think? They aren't necessarily that fashionable but I have seen some people pull them off really well.

Here's a link to the shoe's I'm talking about because for some reason it wouldn't let me upload a picture of the boots.

YoninahAliza, thanks for reviving this thread! Yes, it's getting cool in Chicago though this week we've had a heat wave.

Time to stock up on Wolford wool tights.

Get a good wool coat, cable knit sweaters, knit tights, leather or suede boots, corduroy pants, gloves and slouchy beret hats.

I suggest have a good moisturizer and chapstick, so you don't get chapped.

It is getting cold here too!

I am one of those who just wear super comfortable and warm clothes.
I don´t really care how I look, I just don´t wanna freeze
and some people have said that this winter is going to be super super cold...

Warm wool knit is must have!
It keeps warm and it is comfortable.
Also wool socks!
Ofcourse a hat.
I have never understood people who don´t wear hat when it is cold...because it makes you hair looks bad they say...
stupid people

Also, because of my work I must be outside everyday,
so good warm boots.
I think of getting these for work

Ah, I know they are hot

and these for free time

both pictures from stadium.fi

When it comes to coat I am canadan Goose kind of person.
When it is -30 celcius I don´t care if I look like Michelin man or something. I just wanna keep my body warm.

So last year was my first winter with snow and I bought a pair of brown northface boots that I absolutely love. However, this year I moved from a just cold climate to a freezing cold and windy climate and thus need a new jacket.

I am looking for a non-black (preferably army or forest green/navy/maroon/brown) jacket that I can either find or have shipped to Beijing. I haven't found anything locally feels high enough quality to justify the price and I'm afraid of spending money and still being cold. I really like the Montebello Parka from Canada Goose but it seems so expensive for a Jacket I'm only going to wear for one season a year.

Basically, I grew up on the California coast and would like some winter advice.

All of my friends love their Uniqlo long johns. I've bought some and have not yet personally tested them through a winter but they are pretty awesome.

I swear by Kari Traa, which is a Norwegian brand. It's quite colorful though. I mostly use it for skiing, or for days that are unbearably cold.

Glad to see this thread revived...there aren't many on here discussing clothes for cold/extreme weather!

Unfortunatly for us in Canada, there isn't that much choice when it comes to winter gear. It's all about a good parka and a good pair of warm insulated boots.

Just bought a Penfield duck down parka. Happy with it!

I haven't bought a good pair of boots yet,but I have a good wool dressy coat and a decent jacket for autumn. I will check out the layering thread too.

For this winter I purchased new turtleneck sweaters. I also have a wool sweaters to help combat against the cold. I plan to wear long sleeve tees under the sweaters for layering. I have my eyes on a new pair of boots and hoping that it could withstand the cold, sleet, ice and snow. As for outerwear I'm mostly covered. I also have cold weather accessories, scarves, gloves and hats. I have a hooded scarf. It's not as extra long as I would like it to be but it's functional enough to keep my head and neck covered and warm.

These are some winter looks that I've been using for inspiration for this winter.

Mumma's Got Style

I'd love a jacket like the one Minka Kelly is wearing. I would probably wear it all winter.
