A cloak usually has a folded collar or hood.

Here's one..

What does "directoire" mean? I imagine in means "director" in French, but how does it apply to fashion design? Is it a certain "style" of dress, like grunge or punk? A particular era, like the Belle Epoque? Or is it a cut of a dress, like Empire or a-line?

Hmmm..

Directoire is the style period that later evolved into empire. Women wore dresses that were empire-cut, men wore very, very high collars.

Here's one..

How 'bout "poetic" and "romantic" in terms of design? Im forever hearing these two words w/ respect to Anne Demeulemeesters' work, but have yet to really figure it out..

hi, i don't know if this is the right place to ask, but there seems to be no such thread in the handbag forum.

i'm looking for the name of a certain type of bag. jean seberg in bout de souffle [=breathless] carries it. i couldn't find a stil of her wearing it, but if someone remembers the film, it's the bag she carries when she does the interview, she wears the striped dress, white pumps and that white bag.

[from www.flickr.com]

btw. it looks a bit like those bags that brides sometimes have. does someone know what kind of bag i mean? how is it called?

unfortunately it seems "pompadour" only comes in the hippie-hemp, heavy metal mediaval or bridal satin versions.
