'Gilet' is also used in England to refer to a less formal waistcoat like a 'faux fur gilet'...

Can somebody please tell me how long a sheath dress is?

I always thought it was ankle-length, to quote a book i have - "A figure hugging, straight, ankle-length evening dress", but I was looking through about.com and they say "This short (mid-calf or shorter) dress" .

a sheath is more about the shape of the dress...
like the 'sheath of a sword'...

it's is simple and fitted without being 'skintight'...
the length may vary...
but the most commonly found contemporary sheath dress and what a magazine is usually referring to when they speak of one is the mid-calf or shorter length...

yes...a pump is any 'closed' high heeled women's shoe...

and a mock turtle neck is one that doesn't fold over at the neck...
just goes sort of 1/2 way up the neck...
