How to organize my closet?
In an effort to dress smarter for 2006, one thing I am trying to learn how to do is to mix and match clothes that I already have. I tend to wear the same skirt with the same top and never mix it up for instance.

To make this easier, should I organize my closet by color or by type of clothing?

How do you organize your closet and clothing?

I think its good to organize your clothes by type, so you know where to go to lok for a top for example. But I really do think it looks so cute to organize everything by color.

Im quite bad when it coems to my own wardrobe as everything is all mixed up

i am a very, VERY unorganized person so it's hard for me to keep things in my closet in order for more than, oh say 2 weeks. but when i do organize my closet i usually separate my clothes by type and subdivided by color or material. for example there could be a section with pants and within that section would be jeans (which could be divided again by light wash or dark wash or whatever else) then there would be corduroys divided by color and so on.

it all depends on what works for you so you can experiment with different things and see what works the best. i hope this helped! =]

I do it by colour, it´s the only way for me, if I want a red T i go to the "red tees" shelve and it´s easier for me

I'm kind of a mess at this because I'm constantly trying to come up with a better system.. i.e. changing it all the time Anyhow, here is the latest set-up:

By type, but I also set aside my run-around-the-house clothes from my more suitable outdoor clothes. I go through my clothes seasonally and store non-seasonal clothes or 5lbs ago clothes out of the way and give/throw away anything past it's prime. I find it much easier to get out of the house in the mornings when I'm only looking at pieces that will work!

Organize by type of clothing. Then organize each type of clothing by colour, but make sure you follow the same pattern for each type. Such as, colours of the rainbow from left for each type of clothing. It takes forever, but looks very cute when finished...

I organize a bit by type, but also by favourites

I would like it to be by type and color and so on, but my clothes is always in a mesh, so it's probably never going to happen..

i actually had a section for awhile of 'stuff that i NEED to wear'...
things that i had bought but never wore...
needed to figure out how to wear...
or things that i just needed to wear more often...
*it worked pretty well too...

it gets so easy to just throw on the same old thing
but it's the lazy way out...

...

New Year - time to sort my closets out
My bloke was complaining about my shoes way too much. So I went to Ikea and bought crappy white shelves to store stuff.

Here are two of them. The third tall one is on its way up and to be filled with more shoes and bags. Then I have only have a closet and one rail of clothes. Plus one rail of coats in the hallway. Will post pictures of the them later.
