Mine is our spare room. The room's cluttered with a bunch of junk that isn't mine and I don't want, but I'm slowly edging it outta there til it's just a nice organised walk in wardrobe. And what I can't remove [like one of my dad's amps] I just use as shelf-space for shoes and the like.

Two pics:

When you walk in, right in front are drawers for lingerie [biiig drawer for that] and assorted crap I don't wanna look at. Must-keep magazines on a shelf above it all, and where you see the junk above that, I now have some of my shoes. Back of the door is for belts [on the left] and scarves [on the right]. Turn left into the room and there's a big wardrobe for coats, trousers and 'not wearing right now' stuff, two long rails for current clothes - dresses on the right, tops/jumpers/skirts on the left [in order of type], shelves to the right of that for vests/camisoles/tees and jeans. My dressing table's my favourite bit, covered with my favourite knick-knacks, and separate drawers for socks and gloves.

I hate the room itself, I used to use it as a painting studio so there's chalk & paint all over the walls, but I'm going to redecorate it art-deco style in pale green with lots of glass and a little gilt, and black silk curtains, and then it'll be beautiful.

^ Mmmm, sounds lovely ... I think you need some black glass Deco perfume bottles to go with. Be sure & post pix when you're done

Oh those are beautiful! Where would I find such things? [It's silly but I am scared of/hate eBay, I get a headache the minute I look at it]. Tonight I got a cheapy square tiered mini chandelier for the ceiling, and some green paint, so that's a start...

^ Well, I've gotten tons of great things from eBay, but for other options ... I go to a glass show at least every six months--basically a specialist antiques show. There's always at least one dealer that specializes in perfume bottles. Once you know who they are, many have an online presence, or will work with you by sending you photos. Then there are antiques shops--one that specializes in Deco and/or smalls. And of course Google is your friend--just Google what you want & see where it takes you

Cool, thank you... I always prefer browsing things in real life so I might seek out a few glass shows and see what I find. It's only a little room so I have to be careful not to over do it, but hopefully I'll find something just right. Thanks!

Here's a dirty cheap idea: Buy satin ribbon (or any other ribbon you like) and decorate your hangers to organise you closet... e.g. blue ribbons for skirts, yellow for dresses and red for trousers - you get it. There are endless possibilities!

(I got the idea when I read a tutorial that shows how to make wooden hangers for babies on the blog posted below, meaning the credit goes to the bloggers there)

My closet is too small to fit, well, anything really -- so instead I bought a clothes rack to hang my clothes on. The first one I got was starting to lean because I piled so many things on it, so I had to invest in another one. I have a dog, but she's small and lazy and although she doesn't have interest in my clothes, she has interest in my shoes -- so I keep those in my closet. As far as organization? Please. I'm clean at best, and junky/cluttery/messy at... pretty much every other time. So basically, I'm unorganized, and I hang my clothes up at random.

I hang everything in this order jackets, dresses, jumpsuits, body suits, small cardigan things, t-shirts, singlets, skirts, shorts, long pants and finally jeans.
I have to folded sections, stuff I'm taking with me when i leave and the stuff that is staying at home.

Heavy coats in a separate closet
jackets
long sleeve shirts
short sleeve shirts
decorated, embellished or fancy tanks
Dresses
pants on tiered hangers
skirts on tiered hangers (space issues or I would not use them)
i fold my sweaters and my boring basic tanks and tees.

this thread is very inspiring! i really need to get my closet straight. i've "organized" it so many times, but it's never quite right, and so i just have the hardest time maintaining order...

the tiered hanger idea is great...

now i have dresses hung in order of length, longest to shortest. then skirts, again, in length order. then pants. then tops on another bar - sleeveless to long-sleeve. l/s tees stacked on a shelf above hanging tops. sweaters stacked on a top-top shelf. tanks/tees/undies/socks/tights in drawers.

it's constantly evolving though.....
