Personal must-haves for Fall 09

Here's a thread for MulletProof, who's in the southern hemisphere & would like to talk Fall

I'm picking up a couple things for summer at the moment that will also work for the transition into fall.

I'm also heading to Barney's tomorrow to check out the current selection of bags and talk about what will be coming in next month for pre-fall (hopefully my SA knows!).

The only definite plan I have is that I need a scarf to go with my tweed jacket.

Is anyone working on their fall wardrobe yet? Or are there things from the runway that are still on your mind?

ta-ta, I was just thinking that we need a thread like this one

I've been off to an early start. I just got a pair of black jeans from Acne on sale, and now I only need a pair of gray jeans.

shop.acnestudios.com

I need knits. Knits, knits and more knits.
Something like this thing from Jil Sander:

net-a-porter.com

H&M Trend will get a few nice pieces in...that probably more my price range

nitrolicious.com

I'll probably get these from asos.com because they are great transition pieces.

asos.com

And I'm on the never-ending hunt for ankle boots.

net-a-porter.com

Otherwise, I'm all set. But I'll probably think of something

I'm happy to announce I've been scanning some sites for any spring-transitioning-to-fall items, honestly the season is so short lived. Fortunately enough, my spring wardrobe is very... minor

Scarves as always I'm afraid, just must have them.

lagarconne.com

A trench coat. Surprisingly, finding a fitted trench is kind of difficult. I come off really particular to the shoulders, length and waist, but I love the minimalist look of this one.

Cardigans and cream knits, I'm obsessed

^ A lot of people probably want their trenches to fit over whatever else they might be wearing when it rains Mine fits over everything but really bulky sleeves.

This is going to be the season where I stay within my budget and work with what I already have. Having said that there's still a few pieces I want to carry me through all seasons. So far I have only 2 items on my wishlist,both of which I'm buying next week after pay day

And a Wolford New York string body (couldn't find a better picture)

For fall I can think of....don't be suprised....knits eg long cardigans, long sweaters...I already bought a mint Acne mohair sweater (pre-fall)
-skirts for work in diff. colours (eg not too short, no jeans...)
-transitional dresses for work (not thick/wool, not too short)
-simple black perfect fitting blazer
-Vuitton leopard cashmere scarf
-black ankle boots (not too high heels!)
-louboutin 85mm black patent
-Grey coat and black peacoat...or just a new coat I'm falling in love with

I think I have the basics covered, but I'm going to look for;
* Grey denim
* Raw denim x 2 pairs - dark indigo
* Black & Blue cardigans (merino wool / lambswool)
* Grey Schneider scarf
* Black high heeled boots
* Grey wool coat

I have only a handful of designers I'm looking at now, so as to try and stay within a reasonable budget! But who knows by the time Autumn comes..

last winter was perhaps the first time I managed the colder seasons okay with what was in my closet. the only thing I kept looking for and needing was:
- a bulky cardigan-sweater in a chunky knit

i'm sure more will come to me as the season progresses.

nordstrom

^ I think that's the perfect way to figure out what you really need

The nice thing about living in a warmer climate is you can get things on sale this time of year that will work year round. I generally only shop sales if I need something at that time ... but this is a good year for sales thanks to the recession. I found some really great Dries black pants on sale at Barney's ... waiting for the other size to come in so I can see which works better and how few alterations I can get away with

I just bought a 3/4 sleeve jacket (the jacket in the pix except black with silver lustre), which will work for the fall transition ... I'm going to call both of these fall purchases

I've been buying some fall-ish pieces as of late as well..
pretty much all of it is off white and black. i didn't plan that though..

what I've already bought is a lovely knitted off white/black striped sweater dress from h&m.. a dark grey-ish/black blazer with subtle pinstripes. A Zara blazer thingy with vertically off white/black stripes. And a pair of long black suede gloves.

What I need to buy now is a pair of wellingtons. A few winter-ish dresses, I would like some in grey, navy and dark purple though I've been looking for the perfect ones the last couple of seasons with no luck..

i believe that camel sweaters and coats are going to be all the rage this fall... must have them, they go so well with grey and distressed black.
