I've got the same issue. I like vintage clothes especially fifties and sixties looks but I also enjoy the minimalistic style and loads of black, whites and neutrals in general.

If you find the magic key please let me know

yah-
we've got a whole thread about 'schizophrenic style'...
all about how you feel like one thing one day and another thing the next...
or you like several things which don't seem to go together naturally...
etc..

i guess it's pretty common because who wouldn't get bored of the same thing all the time, right?!...

it's fun for awhile, but then sometimes you just want to change it up...
doesn't mean you can't go back to the first thing again later...

i've definitely got my more feminine/sexy side and my more androgynous/tomboy side...
i think one is french and the other is japanese...
but they both speak italian...
and love NYC...

i haven't found any solution other than to just do it...
they are both really me...so, i do both, depending on my mood and the situation...

it's a kind of complementarity.
even if one doesn't appear together with the other, they are tied as long as they yearn for each other.
maybe it's longing rather than boredom that works back and forth between them.

frankly - i could interpret this statement in multiple ways...
i suppose they are complementary, though i had never thought of it that way before...
:p

does this mean i am tied to myself...?!
...

that gives 'bondage' a whole new meaning...

or the new bondage begins with untying. then it's changing, device, and adjustment that there are between animus's coming in and going out in anima.

i have seen that film before and - frankly- you did an amazing job with the still shots...
the video is like some ultra-cool performance art~!

i had to look up anima and animus...of course!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anima_and_animus

though, i confess, i think that the concept might need more than a wikipedia entry to be fully understood...
...

i think i would have to take a class on Carl Jung before i could fully absorb this or any of his psychological theories...
...

*i am always amazed to learn how much one still has to learn...
i know this is not a new concept...
and yet, this is the first time it has ever come up in my real life...
and it is strikingly and uncannily similar to what i have been saying about androgyny and having a male and female side...etc...
though i had no idea there was some psychological theory about this...

funny, isn't it...?!
...

not sure how i feel about it, tbh...
but i do love that imagery!!!
......

is it odd that my fave bit is the end with the white oxfords just sitting there and the wall crumbling and peeling, etc...
???
it's just sooo lovely...

merci beaucoup...
xxx

glad you like the images softgrey, twistelette

the phyche might be ambidextrous if we, before we are men or women, are humen.
so, to put ourselves into perspective, there is compensation at work deep in us.

lately i've been thinking about the fact that i dress in polar opposites top to bottom. if its feminine up top i wear a clunkier shoe, i.e. ann d shift with balenciaga buckle boots or limi feu swing dress with rick owens dunks. i seem to fall into this pattern all the time, and i like it... a bit mismatched but complimentary.
same goes with bottoms, boyfriend/slouchy jeans with super feminine dries micro check slingbacks.

I've been experimenting with wider-legged jeans. Sadly, the pair I have - H&M - are a little too big, and have to be belted. I'll have to buy another pair! Excuses for retail therapy: priceless.

Dumbfairy: I have been doing Mad Men hands and nails for months. I even got myself one of those dainty gold watches. You can't watch Mad men and not want to copy something... Such a stylish show.
