anthropologie offers so much variety (and different labels, so it might not count for my particular experiment) that i don't think it would feel too restrictive.

i had been considering doing it with apc, which has a (wonderfully) restrained collection every season, and a distinct style/identity. i get fed up with piecing a look together everyday - but this is very new so it may pass - mustn't act too rash, as you say.

i have such definitive ideas for my fall/winter wardrobe. Im currently putting it together and searching everywhere for the right pieces. From vintage to bargains to high end stuff - its going to be varied but classic. Black is going to be the key color with hints of brown and grey. Splashes of red and burgandy and wine colors will brighten it up. Big thing this season for me is the pencil skirt! I will be living it up in my suede and cord ones!

Why are you creating a whole new wardrobe?

It would feel extremely weird to me ... and I'm sure I couldn't do it, couldn't give everything up. Besides, I'd never be able to justify the expense ...

Because I didn't know what direction I wanted to go stylewise.. so I just bought a little of everything.. in the end, my wardrobe ended up looking like quite a mess and completely unorganized.. It looked like as if I was trying to go three different directions at once.

Maybe instead of giving it away immediately, put everything into a bag and keep it in the closet for a while. Then you can see how it is to live without that stuff.
interesting idea...

i sort of do this at times...
i will rotate things to the front of my closet according to my current mood and lifestyle...
or if i just haven't been wearing them and i want to remind myself that i have them!...

but i keep things stored away so that i can go and get them if i feel the need...
which i actually do from time to time...

i am trying to get the energy and courage up to get rid of some things right now...
it's only fair...i have gotten new stuff- so some of the old should go..

if you do it right...it should take a lifetime...

it's a neverending journey...
and the journey itself is half the fun...
oh----the joy of discovering a new item that would go so perfectly with what is already in your closet...
you take it home and introduce it to your wardrobe...
'nice to meet you'

welcome new friend...!!...:p
i think you're going to like it here...we're going to take good care of you!...

^ I see ...

When I was young I really had to spend my $$$ carefully, so I always had a master plan As I think about it, how I developed my wardrobe then wasn't all that different from now, it's just that my style has changed ... back then it was very classic. I was also probably a bit more disciplined about color than I am now

^ don't they always

My #1 goal right now is to invest in clothing that's actually going to last... Not just of-the-moment trends or something that will last a couple of months material-wise...

i've always done that, BUT i lately i find that the clothes outlast my interest in them. even if design-wise they're perfectly good, and the quality is holding up well, i'm sick of them and want to make space/justification for new new new stuff.

^Me too Soft! I'm a real hoarder.......I always repeat this mantra to myself: 'There will be one day that I'm gonna wanna wear that'. That's my reason not to chuck away stuff.
