America is also featured in the current In Style on the plus size page. She looks absolutely tiny in that picture ... in these pix you can see she has thighs, which is refreshing

In better jean news, I found some beautiful INC Woman jeans that were 75% off the original price. They were a dark wash, as I like them, and a size 16W.
Oh lame. I wear a 16 and I would not want to have to buy a 22. That's ridiculous. Who would want to have to go up that many sizes just for the name

My thighs are very large (over 20 inches wide each), so that's why I had to go up several sizes. If you are more proportionate, you may only have to go up a size.

At risk of being clowned

I give you another picture of MG at a Cinema Society event, NYSD. I think she's doing better in this one, but I still wonder about the corsetry. Princess seams, IMO, are very flattering, and although I don't wear red myself, I like the accessories.

^ There's an article about MG's apartment in Elle Decor this month, apparently celebrating her separated happiness? (I thought the decor was nothing too special--looked comfortable.) I looked for more info on this, but it seems to be a bit hard to come by ... In the picture she's wearing a short green gown that I believe I've seen in this thread ... wide ruffle at the bottom ... and holding Cyrus. She looks happy as always. The article calls her a "statuesque blonde."

classic did the Nordstroms Paige Premium Denim have more options? Or were there still just the three basic styles on the Nordies website?

I'm a bit disappointed by the lack of styles - bootcut basic blue jeans are useful but I want to see fashion denim - all the cool cuts and colors offered in their regular line. Basic denim is so boring.

And dear lord what is with the stretch? I have never needed my jeans to stretch - maybe its just me but I don't really love lycra in my denim. If I wanted stretch I'd get some leggings.

Luxx, I only saw the Mandeville Canyon and a couple of other styles at the Nordstrom store in San Diego, so I suspect those are the intro three options.
For me, stretch is fine. I'm just hacked that I had to go up a few sizes because of my large thighs. But if they go on sale, I may break down and get a pair, although the Mandeville Canyons, which fit me best, weren't available in the super-dark wash I like.

Statuesque? To me she seems maybe 5'7" at her tallest. When I think of statuesque, I think of Queen Latifah, Kate Dillon, Kirstie Alley or Kym Hampton, a former WNBA player who is 6'2" and plus-size. But I will look for the Elle Decor.

MG does look good in that picture. I've learned to look for princess seams or peplums especially in jackets; they really help to make a waist on those of us who are more "rectangular" than "curvy."

Does MG have that dress in another color? The bows and hip pleating look familiar.

I honestly am not sure. I remember seeing a picture of her with Tory Burch and she seemed to be a lot taller ... but I'm not sure how tall Tory is, maybe 5'2" or 3"? Plus if one's wearing heels and the other not, that makes a big difference too ...

It may just be that was the last available word in the thesaurus

I didn't have time to finish my last post properly. Fashionista-ta, thanks for the reference to Elle Decor for the article on MG. I don't normally follow that magazine but will now look for this issue.

On an off-topic note I'm rather sad that Marjorie and her husband are separated. Reza Raine was featured on the Sartorialist web site on July 30th; he looks as though he's lost quite a bit of weight.

Yeah, I did see Reza on the Sartorialist, giving his favorites. He has lost weight. It's sad to see them separated; Cyrus is adorable and hopefully he and Marjorie can remain civil for the lil' man's sake.

I'm going to buy Elle Decor tonight when I go to Target.

I haven't logged in here in ages, but I've been keeping up through the email digests.

I finally visited Nordstrom yesterday and wanted to check out the new Rachel Pally pieces and the Paige demin that you guys have been talking about.

The demin was disappointing. I expected to have to go up a couple of sizes, but for me that would mean a 24 (I'm usually a 20) and they didn't have anything bigger than 22.

I also found a pair of Svoboda jeans on clearance, size 22 fit me, but I didn't like the wash.

Then, just for the heck of it, I tried on the short caftan dress in Lake from Rachel Pally. Usually I'm leery of anything called a caftan, though I wear a lot of tunics. But the dress fit perfectly. I was so amazed by how well it fit that I was willing to spend the money which was a bit outside my usual price range.

I plan to wear the dress during my visit to London next week. I'm psyched to visit the Anna Scholz boutique too while I'm there.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for plus size fashion in London?
