Um, second post? If I'm doing something wrong, just let me know.

I'm not fat, but I suppose in the fashion world I'd be considered a big girl. I am 5'5 and a size 7/8 in most Jeans...about 130 lbs. My legs are my major problem. They aren't REALLY big, but I'm VERY pale in general. I know girls bigger than me..with bigger legs/thighs who just pull off skirts much better because the darker skin is slimming. Could anyone suggest a good length/cut for bigger legs/calves? Also, a good brand of jeans which minimize the thighs. Shoes that will make my legs look nicer...?

I'm going to NYC this coming Saturday, (because no way am I going to find any nice brand name clothing in Nowhere, Pa.)so if anyone could suggest any places to shop with a modest budget. I work at Kmart...and I'll be going on about $400 and have some gifts to buy yet...

Thanks in advance.

Skirts that hit at or just below the knee would be best IMO..

I hate buying jeans.. maybe someone else can help with that.

Hit H&M for some skirts.

definitely suggest skirts that end just below the knee, they're very flattering and wonderfully classy

maybe something like this? perry ellis resort fall04

I was actually just reading an article the other day from a group here, called "Pretty, Porky and Pissed Off." It's a bunch of activitist young women who are seeking the promotion of a more varied body type within our culture, and simply having a lot of fun, regardless of your sizing. I'm not sure whether you fit into that completely yourself but it did get me thinking... I can't find you that much right now, since I'm heading to bed, but I will definitely make a search for something fabulous tomorrow afternoon!

Hey hun,
I dont think that pale is your problem, your white legs will look killer in some nylons, fishnets or textured/patterened tights (which is great for winter, but you'll look fine bare legged, aint no shame!), a slender heel, and an a-line skirt preferably to the knee or an inch or two longer. Hope that helps! Best of luck to you im sure your beautiful.

I don't think that you'd be considered a 'big girl' as you aren't plus sized. I think with these sorts of things it's just trial and error. try on different lengths and fabrics and see what works best for you and your strenghts and weaknesses

where i'm from i'm considered fat...blame it on asians who have stick insect figures...

in any case, when i'm in the states i buy from old navy and the gap.

www.dorothyperkins.co.uk also has nice stuff. i can only buy from imported brands since the local stuff's XL is like XL for kids. don't they realize that bigger people have money too?

Torrid is a new store I've seen pop up in malls.. very cute stuff! I go in there and look for tops.. since the junior sizes don't fit my stupid chest.
