Scarf /Scarves : Storage and Display Options
Storing Scarves:

I am always wearing scarves...
i love them and i have tons...
wool, cashmere, silk, knitted, woven, etc...

but i often find myself grabbing for the same one over and over and so many of my faves just get neglected and lonely...

i' keep trying different ways of storing/displaying them in an effort to make better use of these great accent pieces...

there are so many options but i'm not sure what is the best one...
how do you store your scarves?

I have a clothes hanger on the front of my clothing rack where I hang my scarves. Works pretty well for me - I have to be able to see my clothes. Otherwise I tend to "forget" about them.

that is what i do as well...
i have several hangers with scarves!
...

but i went to someone's house- a nice french girl- and she had a towel rack with multiple bars that she had a whole bunch of scarves displayed on...
it seems like a very good idea, no?
you could see them all so easily!
she uses them as part of a whole outfit more often, not just for outdoors...

isn't this from muji a bit of good design? made of aluminum. of course they didn't make it for scarves display though. if you don't like any peg bite, you could change pegs for rings, like the circles LUC used for displaying the stuff ( the circles at wires' end ). then maybe no problem with scarves on the heavy side.

or how about getting some kind of board and making something like the nails on the wall?
you could be creative and try some things around that.

from more recent LUC displays, just for reference

i use this kind of towel rack type of storage thing for my scarves...
i have this very basic one from ikea at the moment but it does the job

it helps to have all of my scarves laid out in front of me even if some of them are partially covered by other scarves.

Thanks Chrissy and runner!
...

the combo of those two things gives me some good ideas...
i like how easy the on and off of the IKEA hooks is...
and i really like how the LUC stuff would make the scarves look almost like art on display...
the second LUC pic runner posted is especially beautiful and inspiring...

good stuff!

you are welcome softgrey

this is lift before the remodeling and expansion done a few years ago. so it's not like it now anyway.
but what looks like a black wall there was a screen of rusty steel, the ccp pants displayed on it with strong magnets.
if some sheet steel or iron plate for yakisoba, okonomiyaki, bbq, whatever is available, you could play with it too?

I have a holder from ikea that looks sort if like the top of a six pack of beer. It would probably be easy to DIY something with some curtain rings

all i know is that when i worked retail (many moons ago), we used plastic rings to display the scarves and it was the most annoying thing, ever...
that is why i am more interested in some sort of hook or bar arrangement...

i saw something that was just a placard of wood with free hooks arranged in a zig zag pattern...
makes me think that if i find some good hooks, i can mount them in that sort of pattern beside the front door, making them easy to just grab and go...
the other idea i have is to used some sort of long bar handles or small bathroom towel racks to create a mounted ladder-like thing on the wall beside the door...
it's a narrow vertical bit of wall between the door frame and window...next to the clothing rack that holds all my coats...
something with an industrial or institutional feel makes the most sense...
the hooks will have to be real hooks (like the metal ones above), not pegs, to keep the scarves from falling off...

i find that ikea does nice hooks and handles, and so does restoration hardware...
i'll have a look at those...
but can anyone suggest more places to looks for hooks and handles that have a sort of classic industrial or vintage institutional feel?
tia...
