I am currently in the process of replacing all my plastic hangers with nice wood one's. I just didnt anticipate them being wider (guess I didnt think about it). So it's actually taking up more space right now. I only have a single closet right now, but it's actually an upgrade from sharing half a closet from before that. I used to have a walk in one in my old house, that was just about the greatest thing ever. Regular closets will not hold a candle to walk in ones ever.

I've read that wooden hangers are better for your clothes (they don't stretch the shoulder area ??).

I recently replaced half of my plastic coathangers with the wooden ones. I must have bought the dud ones because they are not smooth at all. I have to take it out of the wardrobe to be able to take my pants off of them.

what about the hangers you get in designer boutiques? Like Chanel hangers are white but have this furry thing on them, good/ or bad for the clothing?

oh leyla, what a beautiful closet.
it's not my closet, but it's the contents (on the blog there is an option in purple to see "34 pieces by piece":

I mainly use wood hangers but I am just wondering if anyone can tell us about the pros and cons of plastic vs wood...?

The only difference (unless the wood is cedar) is that wood hangers are usually wider and support the garment better, which keeps it from stretching out. But there are wider-shaped plastic ones; the Container Store has some.

Great wardrobes, Lee Lee and Layla! You all seem so organised... my wardrobes are just bursting with clothes and are a complete mess. I need to have a clear out and invest in a better shoe rack and some more hangers (I prefer the wooden ones, by the way, as I just think they look better than most plastic ones).
