I like harem pants, also for men. Personally I don't like them in sweatpants material, it makes them a bit too sloppy for me. I have them in a grey wool blend and in light blue denim the dropped crotch isn't as low as in the mentioned link, but more like half way my upper leg.
You can always order one and return if it doesn't turn out right for you.

Do you still think the dropped crotch still looks alright though?
I've seen a few guys with these too, I don't like them. I've also seen them in denim, which look so uncomfortable.
Plus I don't think I've seen anyone walking in the drop crotch jean versions properly. They look ridiculous, in my honest opinion.
I think it all depends on how low the crotch is, somewhere between the knees is far too low for me. It gives a very strange and unflattering silhouette. The ones I own have only a slightly lowered crotch like I mentioned, and I think that helps. It gives a different silhoutte, but is a bit more flattering.
And sometimes you just care about how flattering things are .
(crotch is an absolute horrible word after typing it a few times btw )
i like ones that are just slightly drop crotched, i got a pair from oak recently and i love them,
but i think the comme des garcons drop crotch short things that everyone is wearing are hideous and go wayyy to low

I like them, especially on men. I've got two pairs of harems but the crotch isn't all that low. I think there's a lot of ways to wear them but you have to have the confidence and creativity to be able to pull them off.
I really like them with trainers. Or with heeled boots on girls.
