had she substituted those stocking with tight leather cigarette pants
or rly tight cigarette pants in a stretchy blk. fabric...
exactly i don't understand why people can't just wear tight pants instead.... or why not a dress? whats so appealing about this look?

^ Edie only wore tights as pants when in the privacy of her own home...
Which makes sense, since in all the pictures I've seen of her
@ parties and/or about town, she always wore tunics & shift dresses...
Not tights as pants with a short blouse...

confession: i wore nothing but leggings for over a year. then i started regularly looking at pics of lindsay lohan and i had an epiphany. stretchy cheap mondays are helping me transition, hah.

also...i'm going to go ahead and blame american apparel.

it is all about breaking the rules and boundaries... but there are no rules left, we have seen it all, someone had already wore it, well, just try to be you. clothes does not make you be you as a person, but it reveals much more that we dare to think.

YES. she wore them out in public. and no, im not saying this because of factory girl. you can even go read the edie thread, there are pictures of her at clubs where she's not wearing her coat.
and what is there to understand about edie's style? what exactly is mis-understood here?

the only exception to me is if it's a catsuit that fits well and you have the right attitude to pull it off. alaia did fierce ones in the 90s worn by themselves with just a belt and heels.
thanks for editing my post, softgrey sweetie

not my job to explain what is the problem with it...
it should be obvious to anyone looking at themselves in the mirror imo...

due to tFS policy, we cannot discuss the MULTITIDE of issues that edie had which may have been the cause of her forgetting her pants now and then...

she's not exactly the greatest role model...

* anyway...what you can get away with clubbing is very different that what you can wear to go shopping on a saturday afternoon...
that's another thing that some people don't seem to understand..
the idea of 'appropriate'...

Is wearing your underwear and nothing else ever appropriate in public?

I never liked leggins as pants either, but tights worn as pants are really unacceptable ...I've seen this where I live and it amazes me that they somehow noticed this "trend" as they hardly ever notice all the rest

Like any article of clothing, tights (worn as "pants") look best on a particular body type. In this case, someone very slim with a tiny bottom. In my opinion, Sienna Miller executed this look perfectly. She looks darling. Of course, she was inspired by Edie Sedgwick--whom, in all probability, was inspired by someone else!

i love edie...but i just had to laugh at this.

and no one cares about being appropriate anymore. its horrible. I mean don't people care about common decency? don't people care about they way they carry themselves, and how they present themselves to the public? what ever happen to class? and if you don't care about being classy, what about being mysterious? there's no way you can be mysterious if you're running around in only tights.

I'm surprised people actually even think of something like this... do they wake up in the morning and think, "oh, I'm gonna wear only tights today"?

how about just forgetting about the clothes then in general and walk around in your underwear? would make a lot of sense in the hotter climates, right?

or maybe it's been done already...
