Ooh such a good idea for a thread. I'm going away with friends for a long weekend next week so I'm picking up lots of ideas. I'm trying to not do the whole 'just in case' packing and sticking to the bare minimum instead. - Wish me luck!

Well for spring break I'm going to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, down in Ashland (usually warmer than Seattle) so I'm going to have a style of jean shorts and tank tops.

^ You should. Very versatile. With some slingbacks for evening or sandals and a summer-weight cardigan for day.

Im going on Spring Break...but I am going on a cruise this summer.

I've sort of picked out one outfit already, that I saw on a guy in Robb Report.

White pants
Navy and Blue Striped shirt
Black driver mocs or loafers - without socks

I liked the way it looked on him in the magazine. I just have to decide if I can pull it off. It might be a bit much for me.

^ Cruises are soo fun. You can dress like a sailor without seeming crazy or fetishy. White linen, moccassins and horizontal stripes are the quintessential Yacht look. Are you going to wear one outfit the whole time? What about dinner the final night?

Im taking a suit or two. A tux for the big final night. Probaly some more business casual stuff.

This is similar to what Im thinking (the Robb Report outfit)...this one is from men.style.com

Except with the black mocs/loafers.

I have not completely finalized my clothes for the trip. But plan on doing a nice/large shopping spree prior.

Chic Travel
Travel can be stressful and unpredictable but it can be one of the funnest and most challenging times to dress for so...

--Discuss how you pack, so you will look chic throughout your travel and when you arrive at your destination?

-How many pairs of shoes etc. do you usually bring?
-When you're buying clothing, do you think about how well the
fabric will travel?
-Is it better to underpack or overpack?
etc..

It is better to pack lightly!
It kills me to carry heavy things.
You never know when you will have to bring everything in a bag (like if you get kicked out of a place).

Of course, traveling is one of the best times to wear your pretty clothes
because if you are dressed in an odd way, you know you will be leaving that place anyway and so maybe never see those people who stare at you ever again.

I bring the lightest shoes I have. I always walk more when I travel... (fears of public transportation, ending up getting lost somewhere too far from your apartment)
I also wear something light, even on cool days, because when you walk and get lost, your temperature goes up... I just keep it simple: long sleeve, undershirt, bottoms and several small underwears/socks. lol

And yes! I always think about how much I will be weighing after shopping. So it helps to 'underpack'!

Well depends where I'm going.

If it's a roadtrip, like my Boston trip this Wednesday (11 hour drive! );

I'm taking
pair of jeans
pair of regular shorts
pair of swimming shorts
pair of sneakers
few t-shirts
a hoody
bunch of underwear/socks
deodorant/cologne
razor/shaving cream
a book (Why We Buy: The Science of Shopping by Paco Underhill)
MP3 player with new songs
and a camera (probably most important thing for me.. I'm trying to get into photography.)

I always underpack because I hate taking too much stuff and then not wearing/using it. Also in this case I'll be doing some shopping so I need room to fit new purchases!

Oh and a quesiton I'd like to ask everyone:

*What duffle/suitcase/travel bag do you use?

(I'm interested in getting a new one.. thinking of Goyard but would like to see some other options as well.)

^I love Goyard trunks! someday I'll own one...

I just recently bought a new "main" luggage piece online. I like it because it has a warranty (I go use my luggage a LOT so it needs to be very durable), it's lightweight, priced very reasonably, and its cute without screaming steal me.
