Matthew Williamson's Shimmery amethyst jersey mini dress with a turtleneck and long dolman sleeves.
Tibi's Black form-fitting dress in anthracite metallic floral brocade
Phillip LIM Cherry red silk jersey draped sleeveless dress with a self-tie knot accent.
all from Mytheresa com
which one do you like the best?
i like the purple matthew williamson best..
first, because i'm just really loving purple right now
but also because the cut and the long sleeves aren't typical party dress style..
which i like a lot..
dali what are the brands of the dresses you posted?
just curious..
definitely some fun choices..
i was actually at a holiday cocktail party for work the other night and one of our clients (the owner of a drapery workroom) was wearing the 4th dress that you posted.. blk/white with the circles on the bib-thing...
i have to say, though it was a nice fun party dress and it fit her well..
there is something to say for being age appropriate..
this woman must have been in her mid to late 40s and the dress was just not age appropriate..
i think she might have been husband hunting

This season I am really into elaborate embroideries (or necklaces) against a simple black or white dress.
Dream Tickets:
Temperley (celebrity sighting: Emmy Roussum and Jennifer Lopez, without the headpiece, of course): an uncharacteristically grown-up look from Alice Temperley. I've always found Temperley's flower-child aesthetics to be a bit forced--long flowy dresses with patterns that resemble table linens or window drapery aren't exactly appropriate for the price she's charging. In terms of design, she relies almost too much on ethnic-inspired prints to make her point. But her restraint (relatively speaking) here is wonderful. The gold saves it from becoming an ordinary chiffon dress, and I was impressed by the fluidity, because this level of tailoring/construction is either rare for the designer or gets lost in the psychodelic prints she often favors. Leave the pretend-hippie look to Jenni Kayne, please.
Oscar de la Renta (celebrity sighting: Selma Blair): even more stunning with bare legs
Chanel (celebrity sighting: Julianne Moore): Lagerfeld updated the LBD with shoulder cutouts but it is the look (which on the runway came immediately after this) with asymmetrical shoulder straps that won the most column inches out of this collection. Still, this would've been my personal pick.
Louis Vuitton: this is from pre-fall. Muffler aside, I think it can look very decadant with a teased updo. I'd choose this for a dinner rather than a party.
I'm really into color blocks right now, especially a pop of red against black.
I got a Zara dress that can almost pass as this Narciso Rodriguez. The black on the Narciso is leather, which is understandably substituted by more affordable material (cotton) on Zara. Also, the straps on the Zara dress are black.
Yigal Azrouel: DvF has a similar shape but with a teal bottom that many celebrities have already worn (i.e. Paris Hilton, Carmen Electra) but I like fuschia much more.
Development: this is actually from two seasons ago. Would look good with drop earrings.
Madison Marcus: I got this from Intermix a while ago when I wanted to branch out from monochronic colors and at $325 it is not too expensive of an experiment, though now I sort of regret it and haven't been motivated to give it a try. I like the jewel tone, but want to hem off the studs on the bottom. The volume in this dress is restrained and highlights my frame rather than disguising it. Will pair it with tights.

Marchesa (celebrity sighting: Ivanka Trump): my boyfriend doesn't understand women's fascination with feathers. I told him they make copping a feel difficult. BTW, I was surprised to read that Marchesa is the number one seller of eveningwear at Bergdorf Goodman (and prob Neiman Marcus by extension, too). I know they got a lot of publicity, but I didn't realize the media coverage actually generated sales, considering this is eveningwear and not a handbag we are talking about. Ivanka would've looked better if she pulled the dress up a bit.
Anyone seen anything from Azzaro? I love Azzaro usually but haven't seen any new designs.
Chrissy, without the help of lux_libson on the avatar thread, you can expect to see me change my avatar more often from now on. I feel like a traitor when I'm not using Angela Lindvall in my avy though. I have a little bit more time on hand and am slowly returning to TFS now that I'm at the second-to-lowest analyst level (as opposed to the absolute lowest level) in my corporation. Who knows, maybe I will finally get a digicam and start posting my purchases. Some of the threads I created are progressing at the speed of light though... I visit "When Stars Wear Runway Looks" every now and then and was like, Kids, I can't keep up!
MulletProof, Keira is a little overexposed at the moment but I still love her aplenty. Should we do another 'Year End Review of Covers with Thumbnails' type of thing in the Magazine thread? I think someone's already started that, but s/he is doing one publication per thread...
Okay, mods, if I ramble on any longer you'd ask me to take this to PM!
Party on... This thread is underrated.
