And a sub-compact 35mm that you can smuggle past security.

i never think just go in what ever feels confortable .. i normally wear a strappy top or something cool inside with a light cardi or hoodie or something to wear over on way home .. i always wear flats .. but something thats gonna cover my foot slightly .. lost track of how many times ive come home with footprints on my feet cos ive been wearing ballet flats... and i always have a little bagthat goes across my body safer and easer and i can drape my hoodie or cardi or what ever through it whilst i dance or mosh or whatever

NEVER EVER wear shoes that you love. honestly wear the most comfortable shoes you have that you don't mind getting slightly ruined.

i went to a concert with my BRAND NEW SUEDE vans and some guy spilled beer on them, i stepped in vomit and got burnt by some cigarette ashes....needless to say my shoes were beyond crap afterwards! i just chucked them in the trash. learn from my mistake people! learn from my mistake!

converse are excellent concert/mosh pit shoes. the plastic cap will protect your tootsies. I like wearing a few dark tanks layered and bring a light hoodie if its chilly outside, but inside it gets hot quick so you can tie it about your waist.

Anything as long you don't care if it gets dirty, smelly, squished, or ripped!

I kinda like planning my outfit for shows too even if it is a little tacky to do so. Just since I know my friends will take pics and I don't get out much so I want to look cute.

one thing - don't wear heels with a covered heel! Too many times I've come home to be devasted by finding the leather on my heels torn and scraped off the heel part. It's so saddening that I've come to the point where I won't buy covered heels anymore. I stick to stacked.

and it does depend on the music. SOmetimes more glam sometimes more laid back sometimes more edgy... I usually go online for photos of previous concerts to see what style people used and wear something that works with that style. But in my own way of course.

I need some help here...my friend invited me to go with her to see a rock band called "Brand New"..does anyone recommend what to wear? The only other times I've been to rock concerts it was backstage, and this one isn't, so I'm not exactly sure what to wear. Has anyone ever seen them? Is it OK to wear anything? Or is it kind of rough? lol. I'm not looking to ruin my clothing anytime soon.

They're pretty much hardcore, so I'd expect a mosh pit. Be comfortable (converse ) and wear nothing that could be "grasped" in the pit!

...

By the way, I was thinking...

I love indie concerts here in Rome... it's quite a fashion show :p

And you pretty much stay still during the gig, so you can dress up!

I love that this is a thread! I went to Coachella in April and I saw so many interesting styles. I want to write a column from those festivals, not about the music but what people are wearing. The entire time I was there I was wearing breathable dresses because it was so hot. I would see people walking around in all black jeans and long sleeves and not know how they were doing it.

I love Brand New! I'm so jealous. Most of their stuff is very mellow. Not rough at all. I don't think there will be any moshing going on. I would wear whatever.

On another note, is it tacky to wear the band's t-shirt? My fiance says it is. But I don't think it is.

I see things like that at concerts sometimes and I know those people have to be uncomfortable. The main reason I don't have a usual concert or uniform is what I wear depends on so many different factors - is the concert indoors or out, day or night, warm or cool weather. Because of where I live all that can really vary.

I avoid heels (ended up with a pinched nerve after a show once, never again) and only wear things that are OK to have alcohol spilled on. My one habit is to always carry a purse, I try to use one I won't freak out about having some idiot spill or throw up on it (both have happened).

I had no idea this thread existed either! (Considering how old some of the posts are, I'm glad it has been resurrected.)

theleatherette, I went to Coachella this year and 2005. I always laugh when I see girls teetering around on the polo field in their Louboutins holding on to their bf's. I agree, it's fascinating seeing what people wear in 100 degree temperatures.

As has been mentioned, what to wear depends on the concert. If it's in a gorgeous old theatre and the seats are reserved, you can wear whatever you want. If it's general admission and you'll be standing for hours and hours, that's a different story.

For a moshpit/standing show, I think toe protection is crucial. Do not wear any kind of sandal or flip flop as some 300 pound guy WILL step on your feet. I have a few pairs of "gig shoes" - big rubber platform heels (so I can see), really comfortable, and I don't care if they get beat up. I never carry a handbag that I have to hold or wear on my arm or shoulder. I have a small one with a long strap I wear like a little messenger bag.

Personally, I think it's uncool to wear a t-shirt from the band you are seeing to the gig unless it's a really special one. If you see the Flaming Lips and you have a vintage shirt from the 1980's or a one-of-a-kind shirt, I think that's ok. :p
