I could see where it would be offensive to someone who might like some of these. And I think making negative, blanketed statements about a particular piece or designer is as much a tell-tale sign of having no style as it would be to buy something because of the name. However, I think it is obvious that no body means any harm, and that this thread is really just for fun.

I saw JLo carrying this purse and that's when I knew it must be cool. I bought the most expensive one!

Notice the signature Pucci Print...that will let people know I can afford $210 flip flops

What better place to put smelly diapers than in a Juicy bag?

This ring come with a gold tag that says Dior so people will know how much I paid for it

Notice how my watch has the logo all over it. If your clothes don't have logos, how will people know to be jealous?

It doesn't have a logo but the loud print will let people know how much I paid for this

nothing says sexy yet tasteful like versace

Can someone give me the definition of "nouveau riche" that you all use when putting together these outfits?

nou·veau riche ( P ) Pronunciation Key (nv rsh)
n. pl. nou·veaux riches (nv rsh) One who has recently become rich, especially one who flaunts newly acquired wealth. Giving rise to:
Blatant Logos
Recognisably expensive prints
Paying too much for very common 'trendy' clothes

Thanks Evexa.. I didn't realize 'nouveau riche' had negative connotations..

My grandparents survived WWII and moved to Australia with nothing but a few friends and the clothes on their back... spent months on a boat just to get there.. hoping they had a chance to rebuild their lives after so many of their friends and families were killed. My grandfather worked 7 days a week, and still does at the age of 81, and my grandmother raised 3 beautiful girls while working with my grandfather and making sure they both learned English..

My grandfather worked tirelessly and wanted nothing more than to give us the opportunities and education and comfortable life that he didn't have as a child.... growing up people would sometimes speak of my family as 'nouveau riche'..but always in the context of wealth and an empire that was built from nothing.. we never splashed money around or wore brand names just for the sake of it.. my grandmother has one of the most exquisite clothing collections I think I will ever see, but she will take just as pleasure in wearing a $5 t-shirt as she will in a couture gown...

I wanted to understand what you all were referring to before I took offense

The term is obviously an elitist invention, however in my opinion it defines a type of person very concerned about their appearance and with 'looking rich', as opposed to the very broad category of those who work hard and succeed...if that makes sense.
It is this desperation to appear wealthy without understanding the importance of quality and style that breeds the listed fashion crimes.
