Perhaps it was a last ditch effort on their part, as Francis is planning on removing them because they're incredibly spiky, and not good for kids running around at that level. Also, there is no doubt in my mind that our dog Tilly will devour them at the first chance she gets.
That actually is a possibility ... there are studies that show that plants can detect intentions toward them, and flowering is what they do if they believe they may not be able to survive themselves--they are providing for a next generation.

They're so gorgeous--could you put a low iron border around the bed or something? I have found that my dogs actually have a lot of common sense when it comes to plants ... and aloe vera is so useful to have around for burns and sunburns.

kora thanks very much

another pic from my place..

that tarnished copper-y looking sculpture on top of the white cabinet is probably my favourite thing that i own (well, it's up there anyway). it actually holds a candle...i found it in a shop in a small town in canada marked down to $5 because no one wanted it and everyone thought it looked like rubbish. this seems to happen to me a lot...i love the things that no-one else wants...and fortunately they are usually always marked down ridiculously due to the lack of demand. :p
Sounds like you have excellent decorating karma to me

PS Hello Humphrey & Harold

I have some art that I want to hang, and I changed my mind about where in the house etc. My friends disagree, but I think I should just do what I want.

Decisions.

I have friends coming in a month so I have to get my house pulled together before they come, and I'll post pics then.

^ I think you're right--it's called 'your house' for a reason

^LOL

although even my BF (his house too) agrees with them, and disagrees with me. But he is style challenged and usually just goes with whatever I decide, and then he loves it.

I'll make him see on these too. LOL

^ Well, like I said, if one person has all the taste in a relationship, that person should most def be in charge of decorating

You have just made my heart wrench for these poor plants just trying to survive! lol. I'll talk to Francis about it. There is no doubt that our dog will eat them, she has no common sense whatsoever - regarding plants or anything else, lol. (this is a dog who stands on our back table like a mountain goat) I'm not sure about the fence option, but we'll have a look into it! I wanted to transfer them to pots, because I know how useful aloe vera is, I have very fair skin and have used a rather excessive supply of aloe vera in my 23 years!!

^ Pots are a good idea too, I was wondering about that ...

PS The prickles may convince your dog that eating them is not a good idea But they're perfectly edible other than that, right? My grandmother orders aloe vera juice by the gallon to drink ...

Thanks, adore. That's the exact look I was going for but my builder didn't offer it. Instead we chose Bulgarian Beechwood.

^ I like ... of course if you like those, you could get some flea market originals, slightly unmatched, and paint them white It's more work, but I love shopping for vintage for my house ...

I've started watching episodes of House (ironically not about decorating) and every single piece of furniture in Dr. House's office was from Ikea I actually have some of them
