I dunno, julia frakes sort of freaks me out. She seems like a man in who's having a mid life crisis, overcompensating or something.

A blog I've really come to adore over the last couple of months is A Slowboat To Mediocrity. The author, Yui, is Australian-born but lives in Tokyo, and I like reading her posts- it's refreshing to see a fashion blog that isn't based on outfit posts.

I like garancedore.com, hanneli.com and sometimes I go through thesatorialist, styleandthecity.com.

I just don't like going to people that are than me's blog. ' Either I get annoyed or think it's a bit pathetic... (when they are realllllyyyy young)

Mermaid Hair: This one isn't exactly new, but it's written by a girl who graduated Parsons this year and works at the BLACK CdG store in New York. She does lovely illustrations, and I like the fact that her blog isn't all "oh, look at me and the stuff I bought today". It actually deserves higher praise than that, but I'll settle for it getting more love.

Are there any asian blogger or bloggers of asian descent that has a more utilitarian or minimalist style?
I'm trying to find blogs that are in some way inspirational, either through things they are currently doing (eg. travel, work, etc) rather than those OMG!I want! Will kill for those! or look what I bought recently blogs.

^I really like A Slowboat to Mediocrity and Mermaid Hair, as mentioned above and previously on this thread- the former is written by an Australian-born Japanese girl living in Tokyo, the latter by a Parsons grad of Japanese descent- they're not very personal-style focused, but I find them highly inspirational and not 'look at me' at all.

^ You should also check out Park & Cube and Phosphene. They are both Asians - the former is based in London, the latter in Boston. The blogger behind Phosphene does like to show her recent purchases, but I think her style's what you're after.

I have too many favorite blogs! Some of them are Flying Saucer, Wishwishwish, The Cherry Blossom Girl, Alice Point, Blushing Ambition and The Clothes Horse.

Drusilla, thank you for the recommendations! I already read them from yoru previous recommendation and I thoroughly enjoyed these blogs. I kinda secretly follow your blog too. Hope that doesn't sound stalker-ish.

Electrichearts: Thank you! Park and Cube is funny. Phosphene to me is not so much utilitarian/minimalist. She's more like a combination of advant garde(her penchant for drapings) and the model-off-duty look. Though she wears a lot of basic colour like black, grey and white.

I'd love to find more blogs that are more tailored to fashion that don't comprise so many 'daily outfits' and 'today i bought:' posts. I like ones that give that little window to their life and how they make it about fashion. When I say that, I don't mean every post ends up being something too abstract/artsy, too out-there and dress up... or too conventional and identical. D8

I enjoy my easy reading days for inspiration!
