Sadly there are still thousands (3,000+) of Missoni for Target listings rotting on eBay.

i dont really like the idea of the boom sweater being an all in one dress. looks a bit schoolgirlish.

Perfect Pairing | Phillip Lim’s Stylish Everyday Wardrobe for Target

On Sept. 15, Philip Lim’s first collection for Target will hit stores — five days after his 3.1 Philip Lim runway show in New York and five years after the retailer initially approached him. “It’s kind of like dating,” Lim said about the process that led to the collaboration. “It’s been about a five-year courtship, and I wasn’t ready.” So why now? “Finally at this moment, we’re like, O.K., maybe we’re both mature enough and our expectations are more realistic of what we want from each other,” he explained.
Lim’s goal for the collection, which is divided into morning, noon and night wardrobes, was to create a solid selection of clothes for “everyday men and women” at Target’s price point. “This is really personal, because growing up, I was a Target customer,” Lim said. “My parents were always taking me to Target for back-to-school shopping, and I would find things, but they were not quite right. This was my chance to go back and relive this and do it right.” The line of more than 100 basics, which range in price from $20 to $300, includes everything from soft intimates and leather jackets to vinyl handbags and solid shoes.
The palette is mostly neutral — gray sweaters, dark slacks, khaki trench coats and solid-colored button-down shirts. But there are also a few standout graphic prints — camo, leopard, floral and one fun comic-book-inspired pattern — that add just the right pop of color. Perhaps not surprisingly, Lim also sprinkled in a few ideas from the past five years of designing 3.1. His favorite is the grab-and-go pack, a mesh bag filled with a few matching underthings — for men, these include socks, briefs and a T-shirt, for example — aimed at those with busy lifestyles.
So how does Lim plan to celebrate the long-awaited launch? “I might be at home, or I might be off on a beach somewhere for a couple days,” he said. “Hopefully the latter.”

tmagazine/nytimes

Clockwise from top left: Phillip Lim for Target men’s shirt in navy/camo print, $29.99; sequin dress in navy, $74.99; men’s high-top sneakers in white, $44.99; mini-satchel in black, $34.99

That blue dress reminds me of another dress he made a few years ago, except it was just the one-shoulder. Also, definitely interested in that bag.

Bags are designed well but the material looks like it'll last a year. At most.

the black mini satchel is the perfect size and has the perfect strap length for me...but its not leather. thats my dealbreaker. i already have numerous bags and dont need to add a fake leather bag to my collection.

That's what bugs me about most of these collections -- the fake and patent leather bags. Is it really that difficult to come up with an affordable genuine leather bag?

Based on comments I've read on other blogs and sites, that bag looks to be the it item of the collection. Fake leather and all, you might want to camp outside your nearest Target if you want one.

The men's high tops look cool, but I'm guessing it's unlikely the footwear will even be leather, right? I can't handle plastic shoes sadly. One scuff and they're done.

there's also a sweatshirt version of the Boom! motif in grey. but the material is very thin. not worth bothering about IMO.
