I'm a little stunned that it's as expensive as it is ...

It only looks expensive when its styled with other Lanvin pieces like the necklaces and the head pieces, which will be uber expensive, so it defeats the purpose of having an 'affordable' Lanvin line.

It's quite cute, but only because it's denim being used for Lanvin like shapes and styled. I agree on the styling. I kind of feel like I could probably make this myself if I had a pattern. It's pretty basic and NOT worth the prices.

That coould be said about most of Lanvin's clothing when you are only looking at photos. Do you really think Alber would put out any old thing you could make yourself?

Let's see how it looks in person, anyone actually know?

well that could be said for any garment that doesn't look highly technical. I was being bombastic but the point was that it looks too simple for the money they are charging which is essentially Lanvin prices for Denim. And Lanvin of course is technical cuts, made to look simple, but they also use silks and other expensive textiles. No doubt they are using some sort of Japanese denim, but I'm just really not interested.

I don't like it. I'm thrilled that it wasn't just a jeans line but the pieces don't look expensive. I can't put my finger on why, it's not as if that dark indigo denim looks crappy or anything, but it doesn't look as chic or special as something with a Lanvin pricetag should. I like the peacoat, it's a cute piece, but nothing about it says high fashion and it's not as if you couldn't find something very similar from one of Ralph Lauren's many diffusion lines in Bloomingdales for a much lower price.

And $500-650 for a pair of jeans is insane when you consider that you can get a pair of Lanvin collection shoes for about that much.

Even if it is a superpremium denim fabric produced at some small japanese mill from ELS cotton, the price of denim per jeans would probably still not exceed $30 per jeans. And considering that the denim seems pretty much untreated I would have to say it is quite pricey. But with the popularity of both Acne and Lanvin in mind, I'm sure it will retail really well. One thing that is surprising to me is that apparently Elbaz contacted Acne, and not the other way around. However, they had of course already been in contact through Acne Paper.

Well no one ever said that the line was going to be affordable.

yeah exactly louche. I don't think any of us expected the line to be affordable. It's not a Go! collection or anything but....for me, it's just nothing special. The styling makes it great but there's no reason I couldn't get a nice pair of jeans for $150, perhaps have them altered slightly by a seamstress, and style them as above.

Yeah, Lanvin also sells $1500 polyester track jackets. $600 for denim doesn't seem too crazy.

Still don't understand the hooplah over the pricing. You know, most designer denim pieces will retail in this range once washes and treatments are added into the costing, Dior Homme denim easily went into that range with all the wax and rubber Hedi used. I'm pretty sure Rick Owens' denim pieces will cost you a pretty penny as well. And who's to say it's just cotton in the denim? APC did cashmere jeans last fall, I wouldn't be surprised if there actually was silk in these.

The Acne store on greene st is getting the full collection. Definitely want top snag a pair of the men's pleated shorts and have them knocked off by my samplemaker. Need to a find a nice denim quality with a soft hand.
