Alexander McQueen F/W 13.14 Lookbook
Quote:
Sarah Burton, talented designer that since a few years ago took control of the brand orphaned of Lee McQueen, presented last February the womenswear collection for the coming Autumn/Winter season in a very private form.

Handmade dresses, that are perfect in every detail, full of embroideries, beads and golden baguettes. Unique dresses, totally couture, that are the result of the mastery of craftsmen that took inspiration from the priestís cassocks during the Elizabethan era. From these 20 looks the main collection has been conceived, that will be on sale in the shops, while the "couture" collection will only be on demand, and will probably make the new ladies of the Bric countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) happy.

In the ready-to-wear collection, the colors, materials (such as velvet) and the inspiration are kept, while the silhouette is changed, by becoming more daywear, and so did the price.

This is too much on the costume-ish side for me. This is what happens to designers when they run out of ideas. They use the same silhouettes, but they just embellish them more. I'm bored by her.

I love Sarah, but her pre-collections and seasonal retail collections are starting to just bleed into each other. It's all the same silhouettes, colors, and even fabrics, thinly embellished with a different theme.

I feel like they're costumes for a new production of the Salem Witch Trials

The shoes are hideous.

^^me too :p

I don't see the costume aspect at all! I don't know what you guys are talking about...

I'm kind of obsessed with this.

I think the Elizabethan details are interesting and pared back enough that this collection is actually really wearable and really beautiful.

this is my fave, i think...
i'd wear boots with it...
but the shoes are fun for the lookbook shoot...

if i were a buyer---i'd buy this...
that blouse is going to SELL...
...
you can put that with EVERYthing...

same with the belt...
it is pure genius and nothing less...
amazing...

as for the skirt-
it's a classic piece that every woman should have in her closet...
and quite flattering on most due to the button placement...

SOLD!!!...

brilliant stuff...

The white blouse in the third row, second shot, of the first set is so gorgeous!!! And I actually love the mid-calf pencil skirts. They look awesome here, as do the skinny trousers. And those sleeves! What's so bad about this?

This is beautiful! I know it's a similar in some ways to her previous collections, but I think it's so good.
