I love the military/royal theme of this collection and some pieces are really cool. But somehow the whole thing is lesser than the sum of its parts. Somehow it leaves me less than satisfied.

Also, I was just reading the review of this collection on style.com and I don't understand where they were coming from about the cast making this collection so much better. True, they had some ugly dudes walking the runway but I don't see how their presence made the collection any better. Or how this cast was any better than say Gucci's or Dolce's, but that's another story.

this collection is so much more serious than the typical alexander mcqueen offering. on the other hand, it's also a lot less intellectually challenging than most of his menswear offerings. i like those black and white shoes.

I do too. I really love this collection. It's probably among my top 3 from what I've seen so far. I find myself want many of those pieces and I usually couldn't care less about McQueen when it comes to menswear. The red she uses is absolutely gorgeous. I hope I can find that shade of red for fall.

Btw, give me this: http://c.imagehost.org/0512/00020fullscreen.jpg and I'll wear it every single day during the fall season. Perfect combo.

i've always counted alexander mcqueen with the 'spectacle' designers like galliano who take on a theme superficially for the purposes of making a great show not for the purposes of honestly giving a serious treatment on that way of dress or even taking that way of dress as a proposal for how men should dress today. it's just sort of the 'fun' of a mcqueen show. this seemed like a bit more than that. i'm not sure it was her intention, it just came across that way to me.

McQueen's departure is a pity, I think there are a lot of people are willing to try crazy style

However, to do a good job, Sarah Burton nice

The suiting is beautiful, wearable, soft and because of it seems almost sinister because you're expecting a surprise, a secret bear trap in the pockets though none exist. I feel over time that the menswear may actually hold up better to her sensibilities; though there is legacy here, it's far less prickly.
