Part 3

from wwd:

Finally, a collection in Milan for nighthawks. Sarah Burton sent her romantic rockers sauntering through the kind of gritty, concrete warehouse where an upstart band might jam. There were shades of David Bowie and Mick Jagger in the Savile Row jackets in bold tablecloth checks or peacock shades, as well as the loose trousers in candy stripes or hammered satin. England’s storied music decades, the Sixties and Seventies, offer rich references for a London-based house, but Burton could have injected a bit more signature McQueen provocation and edge. Licks of it came in the form of terrific varsity-style jackets in leather and suede, a flame-print evening jacket and white greatcoat with bold red bands that seemed applied with spray paint.

This is pretty bad; not at all what McQueen's menswear should look like.

This is so wrong. This collection lacks of soul. There's not even cohesion!!

Huge disappointment. What happened? Sarah's last two collection were great and carried the McQueen spirit, but what is this? What's with the 70's suits, velvet jackets and tacky flames? I don't see the English, but rather an Italian influence, which I suppose is appropriate for Milan, but I thought McQueen shows in Paris, why Milan this season? I understand this is McQueen by Sarah, but if this is what she will be delivering, then I can just forget about McQueen menswear.

just like what I said before, she only did the tailoring stuffs but not made the real McQueen clothes. they can be fine and delicate for other designer house, but never good enough to McQueen. I missed the thrilling and savage part of the brand.

I didn't like it. There are some nice garments but in general this feels very average. In general, if you look at this, you could think it's everything but McQueen.

I like some pieces but the collection doesn't really work together as a whole. And some of those jackets look a bit tacky.

This collection IS very McQueen.

The only un-McQueen thing about it ... its the color palette and those prints .. I really dont like anything showed around the time the flames jacket came along.

The problem with going rockstar, is that yes, it seems italian ... and yes, it reminds me of Voyage

McQueen menswear has been shown in Milan the past years, the womenswear is shown in Paris

I quite like it, but as Tim Blanks said it misses some kind of edge, something special (other than that flame jacket!) and it really seems a bit all over the place
