Well, I see so many references! Obvious ones at that! So many of you TFSers hate it when people throw around Balenciaga this, or McQueen that - get used to it. As long as these insipid designers continue to blatantly rip off those who came before them, we're gonna be here to call them out on their sh*t.

I see a pretty shameless mix of Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2008, Yves Saint Laurent Fall/Winter 2007, some Balenciaga Fall/Winter 2012, a fair amount of Rick Owen's Fall/Winter 2007 and the standard peppering of Helmut Lang memorabilia.

Pathetic.

^ 1000% agree Dior Couture, plus where is the fun in TFS if we cannot do that .
I also saw some of MJ's fall 2008 even fall 2006, but that was way more beautiful and had so much depth. I think the other you nailed the other references perfectly!

Oh, and can't forget Rick Owens Fall/Winter 2012 with all those knitted hoods and that color palette of wooly greys and rich caramel leathers, and actually a few of those closing looks with fur shoulders and sleeves, and draped pants and skirts also look very low budget Rick Owens, circa 2005-6.

The boy does know how to do a collection; there is cohesiveness, show pieces and salable pieces. It is all set; well done.

I think it's blatantly obvious that Alexander Wang does copy designers every season. It's shameful when you actually find the pieces he copies. The problem with him at Balenciaga for me is that now that Nicolas is gone, who's he going to copy now? His collections, along with the rest of NYFW, are all grey and black. There's never any colour. I think designers like him bring shame to the industry. They get so much attention and then look at what they do, they present boring collections that are blatant knockoffs and then they get applauded for it. Just shows the moral demise of the fashion industry.

I like it , it's his collection with a bit of balenciaga...maybe he's showing the world that he can do it. And please don't forget, there's is a design team that work with Nicolas at balenciaga. I believe the team won't go to far and keep on the work as they were.

This is really impressive! It felt like a huge step forward for him. There was an extraordinary leap in the construction, in textile innovation, and in the silhouette. His time at the Balenciaga atelier has obviously impacted his design aesthetic; and in the best way possible.

And the presentation was incredible. The staging gave the clothes a monumental feel, no?

Well, I am whelmed. The pants and the pleats are terrible, the proportions are terribly unflattering. His clothes basically require no tits or hips which for me is a no no and for the most part, these clothes will be difficult to pull off BUT I do like some of the sweaters and the fur jackets.

PS. I see some late Ghesquiere too, you know, the stuff we used to hate.

As always one of the nicest show to watch due to fantastic music and an interesting runway setup.
Wang's pieces work great on the runway, but a lot of this collection isn't wearable.
But can I just say that I'm more than in love with the black "swirl" heels towards the end?

the fur is a dream and I am in love with that amber colored jacket. I love this collection, it feels very luxurious

When people keep spouting off all these references to other designers I get the impression it's because they associate every silhouette --many of which are themselves common or recycled-- with a particular designer which means no one can design anything without being accused of copying. Really there is nothing new. The slouchy, cocooned silhouette is a staple now and accusing everyone who utilizes it of copying is tired.

It's actually gotten comical. Apparently this one collection is copying 10 different designers. Yeah, don't think so.

Anyhoo. I love this collection. My only gripe is the color scheme. It's time Wang learned to incorporate richer colors into his palette. It would only enhance his designs even more.
