I like the harder edged suiting looks but some of the dresses just look too hoochie.

This is what I'd imagine a modern Versace should have looked like, not the trashy, juvenile, unsophisticated collection under Donatella and Kane. I find the one shoulder jacket/bustier silly, otherwise, nobody does "strong" sexy like Vaccarello! I would wear these looks, but only when I'm with my bodyguards!

He should have stuck with the longer gowns like last season. The shorter dresses when combined with his signature angled-tailoring is definitely hoochie looking. Too bad, because the fabrics were beautiful, and there was a lot of potential here.

I was going to say perhaps his work is like a conceptual Versace. If that's not a contradiction in terms. Fused with a bit of Helmut Lang in the shapes. With something a bit late 80's - Claude Montana?
If Christopher Kane moved on from Versace, Donatella might do worse than look at Vaccarello. Perhaps we can, to carry on the comparison, see his work as kind of similar to some of Kane's. Though there is something Parisien in Vaccarello - a chic that I think does, just about, manage to keep it from Hoochie. Though I'd not deny it's a fine line.

One particular commentator I respect is major talking him up. I do see something. And yes, the Decarnin comparison someone made earlier is a thought I could share also.
