Please tell me I'm not the only one seeing something that was probably not intentional in all of those pieces with the oval-shaped pockets.

That aside this is kind of underwhelming. I'll never forget his Spring 2003 couture collection, which I believe was the last time he showed a couture collection. It blew me away, and still does. This seems a little"eh" by comparison.

^Not having seen an Alaia couture collection this to me is fantastic. I am in love with the coats as well as the cocktail dresses( and skirts) with the fur on the bottom. the construction to me is flawless

My exact thoughts. That was epic, I wish I could find more pics. Even the RTW FW10 collection wowed me more than this.

Anyway, classic Alaia experimenting with more frills on knits I guess. Gorgeous coats and footwear as usual.

Funny you bring up RTW because I think that's what truly bothers me about this; it's a little too similar to what he does for his ready to wear. I guess the techniques are at a higher level, but on the surface there really isn't anything that's so different from what you find hanging in Barneys in any given season. They're beautiful clothes, but they're pretty anticlimactic.

Here's his 2003 collection btw.

There are some couture pieces but overall, it looks like RTW to me.

Meh.
I guess I've soured a bit towards Alaïa after his petyness in a recent interview, but these pictures reafirms my opinion that he has no place trashing someone like Karl Lagerfeld when he has just produced a Couture collection that looks almost exactly like every RTW collection he has presented this past decade.

Hahahaha, love it

I'm not very impressed by this either, we've seen much better from Alaïa. The 5 last looks and the dark red ones are great but the rest is very mediocre.

There's one look missing though, the dress in the background of image #10 in post #2.

I really like some of this but I'm not blown away.

Oh thank goodness I'm the only one who thought the same thing about the pockets. But overall this is to RTW for me because Alaia's work is always so well crafted that it's hard to distinguish between the RTW and Haute Couture. At least in these pictures it makes it seem this way. Lovely choice of colors used throughout the collection though.
