He took inspiration and did a very modern, fresh, super tailored and beautiful collection. Also the accessories were splendid!
He took inspiration from Nicolas' archive. It's blatantly there. I think these clothes look fabulous too. But I don't like it because this doesn't have anything to do with Cristobal. It's Nicolas'. This is the kind of stuff Nicolas had just started doing. And for Wang's spring show there was actual pictures of stuff he copied from other designers.

I like this very much: clean, wearable, sophisticated, architectural! Good job imo.

This looks heaps better than anything to come out of Balenciaga the past 3 years. I think it was a wise decision to tap Wang.

The fabric quality is beyond lost in the pics up above, but still, I'm far from impressed.

There are some nice pieces here and there, but I truly resent how awkward most of the shapes seem (to me, at least).

Exceeded my expectation, though.

Wang makes nice clothes which are trendy now and the upcoming season.

Ghesquière created unique pieces coming from another planet that defined the trends for all the other copycat designers.

END OF THE STORY.

this is it? get outta here, i'm sure vogue and all the other fashion reviewers will lap it up and call it amazing but no. this may look clean but there's nothing new or artistic about it and that's what balenciaga was to me. looking at last season's collection and then this... i'm going to the corner to cry like a baby even though i didn't expect anything and got nothing, i'm still gonna cry for one of me all time favourite labels.

100% agree
After looking through it in detail, this collection is not bad but extremely derivative of its previous designer. Thats fine for other houses, but for an innovative house like Balenciaga it just does not cut it but not that it matters , its all about money these days. Most of this was heavily inspired by NG's work from a decade and earlier, with bits of Celine but with poor fittings .
Accessories are quite good in fairness, which will be the main money spinner in any case.
