bALanced on several knife edges of contradiction simultaneously. Like a hub at the centre of a wheel.
Smart and street. Retro and modern. Sculptural and fluid. Editorial and wearable. Blinged out and minimal. Plays with sartorial codes of historic centuries (18th/19th), yet resolutely of this century. The balance of contadictions delivers a zen quietitude. Yet that Wang chutzpah is still very much to the fore. Bravo Mr Wang. You Wanged it out.
I think it's a good idea Wang followed Ghesquière's work so closely for this collection. It means a well-executed, smoother transition in Balenciaga that won't repeat the issues Raf had when he came to Dior.
Well can't complain that much. It's not horrific except maybe those last four jackets.
I wanna see the reviews.

This collection is so-so to me. There are obviously some nice pieces and the fabrics he has used look expensive and nice. But still, there is something... I'd say the spirit of the house of Balenciaga still missing. Wang needs to work harder to prove himself as a rightful successor of Ghesquiere. Still, kudos to him for exceeding my expectations.
Come on guys! You love to say a designer copies another designer, especially when we're talking about Wang, I don't see any literal copy, I only see great work from Alexander, and as always with a modern twist and a fresh new vision on clothing, construction and design.
He took inspiration and did a very modern, fresh, super tailored and beautiful collection. Also the accessories were splendid!
For a first collection at a new house it's really very good. Clean and solid.
For Wang, it's good.
For Balenciaga it's barely passable and I say this counting in also the last few collections Nicolas put out that some people consider bad.
If I disregard the fact that it's not very Christobal and I forget that there ever was a Nicolas there, I can live with everything they produce nowadays. Even if they make fur sweatshirts or whatever.
This is a visual feast for the eyes! I honestly don't care if he copied some of Nicholas's earlier ideas, it proves that he has done research into the house's archives. I still see some Wang influences that I love, so this collection proves he can do Balenciaga justice.
Just amazing collection. Yummy.
