Fashion is so corporate nowadays. All these designers get shuffled around like deck chairs on the titanic. They've been made a commodity, disposable. What ever happened to a designer's vision? Brands have become diluted, clothes all look the same now, codified into the same generic look for mass market appeal. It's a sad reflection of commercialism today. Clothes have to sell, everything's about the bottom line.
Well, can't say this is a news that excites me very much.
I'm actually more curious who's going to be the sound composer at Balenciaga from now on. I wonder if Wang will bring Frédéric Sanchez to the house with him, now that would be something to look forward too.

Not gonna lie, but that's probably the only thing I'm excited about
Balenciaga might rejoin the couture world under Wang.

He [Wang] has a very strong talent not only when it comes to accessible product, but his talent could also be adapted for couture at Balenciaga. It will be a big challenge for him.- François-Henri Pinault

Wang and Couture LMAOOOOOOO, sorry PPR but that is the most idiotic statement I have heard of late. Wang's bread and butter are overpriced made in china jersey T shirts. I just hope his debut will be a joke, so PPR realizes they should have taken someone inhouse with talent, rather than a flaky celebrity designer.
^
I didn't realize chinese made products were considered bad quality? I've bought a few pieces from Wang that were made in China and the quality is fantastic.
Is it really that bad to have someone from Chinese background, who in the past year produced strong, wearable and luxurious clothes be given an opportunity to work for Balenciaga?
This is a huge stepping stone for Wang, he is finally being given the opportunity to take in the DNA of Balenciaga and incorporate designs he has never done in the past.
Whether accurate or not, "made in China" has been synonymous with poor quality for many years in some places.
And please do not interpret this as a statement that it is "bad to have someone from Chinese background". Nobody has suggested that Wang's ethnicity is a reason why he should not be at Balenciaga.

Lol, i'm just simply going to agree to disagree on that.
^So, Wang should not be at Balenciaga simply because he's Chinese? Are you aware that you're being blatantly xenophobic?
That's not even where I was going with it. I just know people in real life who have come to me and said how bad it is that a Chinese person is designing for Balenciaga. I'm just proving that these racist comments have stirred up from people I know and I wouldn't have a doubt in my mind that people on here think that way too, not including myself.
