Balmain is a joke. maybe they could argue that the quality of their fabrics and construction is superior .. but ultimately - this collection looks like it could be an advertisement for any H&M or Zara collection. which is not to say that i don't like any of it. i find most of the individual pieces quite wearable and casual and cool. it's just that i can buy them for dirt-cheap at one of those other stores, whereas Balmain will charge an absolutely obscene amount for this stuff.

The tuxedo jackets
The pastel blue tuxedo jacket
I'm loving this. Yes, it's the same as usual but I can't help but being head over heels for a collection featuring so many gorgeous tuxedo jackets.

perhaps that's because h+m and zara plagiarize the balmain collections so shamelessly.

it's gratifying that the new designer at the house of balmain has not decided to pull away from the direction that decarnin started. while this stuff doesn't break new ground in the menswear arena, it's a look that still holds sway among so many fashionable men. those leather vests remind me of the vests we saw for balenciaga ready-to-wear fall/winter 2011.
