This feels as if 90s Gianni Versace slapped me in the face...

Neither liking the excessive "power shoulders" nor the harlequin print.

(Missing Christophe Decarnin`s excellent work for Balmain )

YES! Beautiful!

I love these shoulder pads...they're not your mainstream kind that we saw in 2009, their a lot more delicate like the Balenciaga collection for F/W 12.13 but to be honest I prefer this way more because it's definetely sexy and I LOVE, LOVE the details....Again, the designer makes these clothes look worth the price tag, or maybe i'm just a sucker for well-tailored clothing.

I ought to have kept my 80s Alaia, Montana, Versace to wear this season instead of giving them to Salvation Army. Well, I'll wear hubby collection of big padded Versace and Montana shoulders then.

And wow, I am old.

Some of the work are beautiful however. Would love to see HQ for details. Thanks in advance to those posting HQs later.

I got such a strong 90's Versace vibe from this, especially with the harlequin prints. I feel like the black/white/90's dialogue we've mildly been getting from Milan and Paris will be a big trend for SS'13...The shoulder thing, eh, that's a bit of a miss for me. But I adore the prints and I love the dresses!

I kinda like this direction. It seems fresh and against the grain.

I want to see more.

EVERYONE has moved on from those goddamn shoulders, but Balmain is still in the past.

I have made my points about Mr Rousteing at greater length in recent season's Balmain threads. I am in charitable mood this afternoon so I will just keep it short - Decarnin was a tough act to follow.

Why does he make every collection look exactly like his pre collections? This looks like resort, which just took the excitement out of seeing all this. It's okay, but I miss Decarnin.
