Calvin Klein Resort 2009

Quote:
NEW YORK, May 19, 2008 – It was a little Issey, a little Chessy—as in Miyake during his eighties heyday, as in Rayner dressed in Madame Grès. In other words, Francisco Costa said "pleats, please" for Resort. During today's mini-show, a scaled-back presentation that suits the season well, the Calvin Klein designer used the technique on everything from icy-hued dresses with kimono sleeves to his modern take on that Grecian workhorse, the toga. A python motif also, ahem, snaked throughout, whether literally, in a white sharply cut, high-collared coat, or subtly printed on dresses or cleverly embossed on a khaki trench. Though understated, simple resin belts and teetering, strappy sandals added necessary edge. Unlike last season's swimsuit-inspired line, this was a collection for city streets—not a single bikini in the bunch.

ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!!!

So chic and so sophisticated. It's so nice to see something so clean and so precise! I especially LOVE that outfit on Abbey Lee! The coat is divine!!!

last group.

I'm kind of loving it actually. I've never really liked python prints, but I actually do like the way it's done here. It looks more like a jacquard texture and not so mid-90's disco revival. And the oyster "square top" belted over the black pencil skirt looks so chic imo.

CK is consistent, I'll give them that. I do like somethings here but I find some of this to be so ill-flattering. The same like I did the past SS and FW collections.

beautiful, i love his minimalism, it is so calm and clean but never simplistic.
...the 2nd to last dress in post 1, the first top in post 5, the last dress...all magnificent.

this looks good enough to fit in the main season collections.. ss & fw
sometimes i think the resort looks by other designers sort of cheapen their other collections for the year, but not this by CK

i like the soft python print as well
and i love the ribbing.. i wonder if it's a print too
the shimmering effect still feels summer

the fabric has such a nice flow and it's as if some of the dresses have extra seams/lengths of fabric to create more flow
& u can see how the garments are like just 5% transparent.. they are so fine and light.. enough to be comfortable in the summer but your body's not completely exposed to other people's eyes

--

oh just remember now,
proenza schouler did snake prints and the super glossy flowy fabrics for their spring/summer 2006 ----so this trend has been around longer than i thought i thought it was just since 07

Oh, I really like this, actually. Better than some of the main collections by CK, imho. The silhouettes are gorgeous and so clean.

Very nice. I like how something clichéd like python can still look fresh. Since so many accessory collections used it for SS08 it was only natural.

Serpent Time

Quote:
What a snake charmer. Francisco Costa, the creative director of Calvin Klein Collection, was inspired by images of reptiles and scales for resort, and he took the notion literally with looks such as this python skin coat, worn with a silk charmeuse dress.

Forget dramatic, celebrity-packed shows. For resort, Francisco Costa, the creative director of Calvin Klein Collection, opted for an intimate showroom presentation. The only famous face that stood out in the crowd, in fact, was that of Ashley Olsen, who has been a fan of the designer for years. Costa has found his stride blending Klein's minimalism and his own sexy edge. Inspired by a book of reptiles this season, he created texture in his delicate dresses by manipulating fabrics through splitting and pleating — all in a muted color palette.

Francisco's minimalism has never looked so good! I still miss some colour (he can do amazing things with colours!), but this is my favourite resort collection

I really like this, especially the last few looks posted! I adore the really subtle use of python print too, as used too much, it could have been awful!
