It's slightly boring and almost depressing, but the real appreciation is in the details. It's one of those collections that take a while to sink in because it's not loud and colourful, but has just as much emotion and personality.

I love the shoes. They're a nice mix of cute and sophisticated.

This collection is growing on me, not that I disliked it to begin with, but I think this is kind of refreshing coming from Karl. The understated mood and ease of the clothes are really fresh, and I've never really been a fan of the huge Grand Palais scale melodramas Karl puts on, so I can't say I miss the over-the-topness. I dunno, the clothes are just so pretty, the eveningwear in particular, I can't help but fall for them.

After looking at the breathtaking Elie Saab collection this seems rather pedestrian for Haute Couture. It could be a ready-to-wear collection.

He always seems to do flats in his HC shows, and I would love to know why. Not that I hate them, it's just so different, isn't it, that I would love to know his reason.

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with this collection. There isn't one look that I am in the gray zone with. I either love it, or hate it. I personally loved the color pallet, and how feminine it was, but I hated the hemlines and the shoes. A lot of the looks were unflattering on the models, and made them look a bit stumpy.

and that's why I'm underwhelmed by the other haute couture houses.

i know HC is hand made stuff, so the other HC houses are indeed HC, but the Chanel ateliers really elevate the art and just blow the competition away.

I couldn't agree more, and I also love the fact that all those amazingly intricate details, embroideries and beadings do not overwhelm the design of the garments. We see the design first and then we are amazed at the details. I hate when designers design a garment and bombard it with beads and call it a couture just because of the beading or embroidery without real design.
