Ohhh, I like this. In some parts it is a bit too forced for my liking, but as an overall collection it is fierce and fun to look at.

This one I am torn on. I love the construction and the details of the outfits, but I hate the hair and a lot of the finished results. The veil/ruffle thing on Sasha is atrocious.

what a great season. dior was amazing, armani was perfection and now chanel is really great. the problem with the hair, imo, is just that some of them look too much like a wig (i know it is a wig but i believe it's not supposed to look like one)...and the picture frames were unecessary. but OH MY GOD that wedding gown! i can't see myself getting married in white and everything but GOD i wanna get married on that. and the pink dress on heidi mount is to die for

Ianastar, I agree! That was my favourite. It really brings out the art aspect of a couture show.

Overall this is a really good collection. I just think the hair makes some of the models look fatter than they are.

Oh yes, I know- but I meant if he ever started something like Armani with his business suits and formal wear- a full line of "real world" men's clothing, wow, the Wall St guys would line up down the block!!
I am impressed with how wearable most of this collection is- only a few pieces seem over the top or Red Carpet only; your wife could wear most of this for lunch or a dinner party- Karl is not very much like Galliano or LaCroix- out in fashion fantasyland...

Well, there are some fantastic pieces, but some shapes are very hard... and that weeding dress.... I think the piece of her head is just terrible...

I also feel like the more recent couture shows for Chanel, from about 2005 or so, have been determined to be cutting edge.

Lately I've been going back to Chanel HC circa 01/02 and the strength of those collections was how simple they were in concept (skirt and blouse combos one season, lightness and darkness another) but they yielded such gorgeous clothes and they also managed to be modern and relevant. Karl also seemed much more in control of embellishments, volumes and styling....it wasn't so in your face, it was subtle in the same way that Coco herself was.

The edge and modernity seems much more forced these past few years.

I can't imagine Karl retiring anytime soon , but it would make sense to push the brand forward for several seasons to prepare customers for someone new maybe...
