Be careful with your words. You are allowed to make comments not insults. Anyway, this show is done by Dior for Greater China, including Hongkong, Taiwan, and maybe even for the entire Asia. This year they just happened to choose Shanghai as the location for this show. Therefore if we are bumpkins, so are you guys from Hongkong, Taiwan. The press from the entire Greater China came to this show, and they also invited four major movies stars for publicity, Zhao Wei (mainland), Michele Reis (HK), Lin Zhilin (Taiwan, don't know what's the correct spelling of her English name), and also a famous Korean movie star. Therefore, we are on the same boat.

I don't like this show either. AT least not from the pictures I have seen so far. Anyway, something we should keep in mind, this kind of shows done in Asia are always commercial activities, and done for the only purpose of publicity. Too many "cheap" Asian celebrities who know nothing about good fashion flock to this kind of show. They care about the after-show party and being seen, much more than the fashion show itself.

Hmm ... I guess it's less of the clothes but probably the lack of experience the organisers of this show are likely to have in putting up a good fashion show. As mentioned before, this is not a fashion show for the sake of fashion but rather a "PR-smart move" (to quote my friend) as well as something of a social event. Hence you see less of the theatrics that dominate the Paris runways and more of the celebrities that position themselves on the red carpet and in the fronts rows for the cameras.

On the other hand, it's nice to see the clothes properly for once without all the dazzling red lights (which often masquerade the real colours and features of the clothes). Sans the theatrics, for us fashion-maniacs here on TFS it's a great chance to get to the raw essence of a fashion show - the clothes.

But I'm still trying to ignore the fact that I thought it was someone in drag when I saw the first picture in JR1's second post

You are not ethnic Chinese (the majority of people from Taiwan are also ethnic Chinese although lots of them are unwilling to admit it )? then why do you have such good knowledge of Chinese language and could even tell the translation problems of those public signs? BTW, these pictures are obviously collected from internet, I find it a bit weird for a non-Chinese-speaker to come up with the idea of looking for and be able to find such pictures.

Anyway, I don't see that you post has anything to do with "Designers and Collections". You should post it to a "Poor English Translation Forum", rather than here at "The Fashion Spot".

Clever. You apologised for offending people and then proceed to say things which potentially offend them again. Brilliant idea.

And your point in doing this is ... ? So everyone can have a laugh at the Chinese because they're "country bumpkins"? So everyone can mock them for their less-than-adequate grasp of the English language? Allow me to point out that as people who natively speak Chinese, you can't expect them to magically grasp the English language (and let me remind you that the introduction of compulsory English language education in China is fairly recent).

And you just proved how excellent you are at offending people by saying "no offence". So what's the point of posting the pictures?

Ah there you have it again. Proving your excellence at offending people even though you claim it is not so. *applause*

And just for the record, it's country bumpkins, with a "b". And you even attempt to place yourself above the mainland Chinese by saying you can speak English even though you're not native. Let me just remind you that ability in a language is not a dichotomy. It's not that you either speak a language or you don't. It's how well you speak it and the background you have that affects your ability to speak a foreign language.

And don't swerve the boat off-course. Here I am talking about how cool it is to see the clothes properly for once and there you are calling the Chinese "pumpkins". What a wet blanket *continues partying*

Oh yeah - about those pair of boots - I'm sure they're not new. I remember them being featured on Style.com under the Accessories Report for Fall/Winter 2006 - under Paris -> Christian Dior. Unless it's featured only in the report and NOT on the runway. But that's unlikely. I think they're pretty cool though. Unfortunately they don't really match the outfit in that picture JR1 posted. The colour's a bit too ... light?

ok let me clarify it....the reasons i posted the sign is becasue this topic reminded me of today's newspaper talking about how china is going to deal with these errors for coming olympic, and they show these pictures in the paper which amused us. I just want to share with you guys some funny pics

and for putting "no offence", i'm worried that some people may think that i'm insulting them.

and why do i say "well i wonder why i can speak english though i'm not an american or a english"?
it's becase haoshcn is doubting that i am a chinese who is trying to act like a non-chinese like those from hongkong and taiwan. she doesn't believe i'm a non-chinese because i know chinese

and some more i don't place myself above chinese because i don't see english speaker as something big or whatever...in fact, i even respect people who can speak their native language very well.
My "mainland china will be mainland china..being country bumpkin blabla" is actually refering to the celebrities and models.

The signs are somewhat amusing, but posting them here in this irrelevant thread on pure account of them being funny is enough to count as being offensive to people (especially those who're Chinese). Fine if your intention isn't malicious, but other people can't and won't see it as so (for example, me). The wider implications are important (and you posted 7 pictures! If that isn't an attempt at mockery, what is?) - and again, your comment that "ok Mainland chineses are really Pumpkins....just admit it..." is really uncalled for.

Someone please continue this conversation about DIOR and/or their show in China. I don't want to discuss about the mainland Chinese here; maybe if you want you can start a new thread elsewhere (I believe it'll become a flame war and end up being closed though). So, please. Dior. Talk about the show, or the clothes, or how strange they look on the androgynous model

EdanChrysler made a good point, you have been consistently and intentionally making insulting comments on this thread to offend people with different cultural and ethnic background from you. I don't care where you are from, which kind of language you speak, but your practice is explicitly prohibited by TFS rules. You can say there are lots of bumpkins from China who have totally no idea about fashion and style, no problem, even as 100% Chinese myself, I agree with that perfectly. But what you said was "ok Mainland chineses are really Pumpkins....just admit it...", if this is not offensive racism, I don't know what else is. I don't mind people criticizing China about this or that kind of issue, but intentional and malicious insults will never be tolerated. Keep this in you mind in your future posts!

You didn't say this just because you were angry with me. Even before I said anything on this thread, you started all these generalizing insults by yourself. If you hate and despise Chinese in general, go to start a forum like "Anti-Chinese", "Mainland-Chinese-are-all-Bumpkins" or whatever, and indulge youself over there, just keep your venom away from TFS, this is fashion forum for us to discuss fashion and style, not a place for you to exhibit poor English translations done by Chinese, or to justify how legitimate your contempt against Chinese is!

you..shut up i have nothing against chinese
i'm angry with you because i apologised first to you to calm you down. i know i'm wrong in posting those signs after apologising instead of keeping quiet. i don't intend to insult you by those pictures
what i'm fed up with is the way you said to me in cocky tone in post 22
