^^This will prob go OT but my favorite parts are "Humming Theme" from Madame Butterfly right after MJ's "Stranger in Moscow" right after "Song to the Siren" Tim Buckley cover from This Mortal Coil.

And then O Mio Babbino Caro into Alicia Keys, This Mortal Coil again, and my precious Christine McVie's "Songbird"....ok this will go into The Music of Dior Shows I presume....sorry.

I like it. Like the colours, embroidery looks amazing. And it has a certain je ne sais quoi, but it feels good!

Some of the animal print pieces (Sigrid's & Tanya's) look like they could be bought over the counter at Morgan. Horribly cheap and chatty looking.

I'm sorry but, Dior on a budget is just not Dior to me. Just as Dior with restraint is not Dior to me. Galliano is a master of theatrics and a master of imbuing Couture with the very drama that separates it from ready-to-wear. Where is the drama in this? Where is the excitement?

This collection fails for many reasons, but most of all it fails because it merely recycles some of Galliano's past looks, but adds some embellishment and/or vibrant colour and voila - Dior Couture Fall 2009.

The thing I dont understand is; why is Dior scaling back its Couture presentation?

That is the golden ticket my friend. I think we all want to know.

And LabelBasher, I look forward to your PM!

I think favorite couture moment was still Kass gladiator-style and parachute tent walking down endless rollercoaster up and down runway first CD show at Versailles, AW 99/00.

from corbis.com

I'm sorry for going off topic A-GAIN but I cannot help it when I only see muted backgrounds anymore, and no more shine, its gone from his shows.

The looks that look finished and complete (i.e. the ones with SOMETHING on the bottom half) looks quite nice, i like the colours and the patterning, but urgh, i dont like the rest, Haute Couture should be better/more than this i think :/

weird how some people are saying that it doesn't look like couture
couture isn't a look, it's a way of working.. please, educate yourself!

i like it, it caters to a reality that all the showy stuff never seemed to do.. i did like the showy stuff back in the day but doing that kind of stuff in this day and age would look very silly and extremely out of touch with what's going on in the world..

The collection is nice but over the past few years it seems like a rehash for Galliano at Dior.

It also seems to resemble a bit of his early years at Dior but I much prefer those ones... those felt more Galliano... these days it feels more compromised and the shows become less of a spectacle or perhaps I am just satiated with the things Galliano has been up to lately- less diversity and a more rigorous nostalgic side. It certainly is less radical and more commercial.
