But this is absolutely disgusting.
This is the team saying "Dior can survive without Galliano!" by doing everything big, coloured, over-styled, when in fact, they missed out what really made Galliano's Dior - the controlled-haphazardness and essentially the quality of beautiful design.
A very NEW direction...gonna take a while to fully digest it...can't say whether or not it's a huge mess or a refreshing direction in disguise?...this collection makes me feel very confused...very very confused.
1. This is so wrong. It's suppossed to be couture and even if it wasnt dreamy, at least it had to look expensive. Seriously, the finishing, the cuts, it looks terrible, something I would do (since i dont know how to sew!)
2. Even worse than this is the fact they are trying to imitate Galliano's scence: the clowny make up, the fabrics, big hairs and "fun" on the runway (which I cant see). They want u to think not in CD but Galliano, which is a failure with the house because since there's a new head designer, the house should have tried to look at the files and re-define it. Take a new direction. But they seem stucked.
3. At some point I'm starting to think they did this mess on porpouse to hire Galliano back.
4. After all this horrid makeup and bad executed clothes I cant stop thinking on this -modified- quote:
what i love the most about this mess is that even though you can see galliano references (almost) all over the collection, they said it's inspired by marc bohan's works at the house...
Okay then. Well, I think it's clear there was no cohesive or focussed vision for this collection. It litterally is all over the place and seems like several ideas crammed into one pile of color and overload. I have to say that some of the swirly skirts and the series of long chiffon dresses might have led to something interesting, if the approach was a lot calmer and sophisticated while only focusing on one inspiration. But now they are bordeline ghastly. John hugely experimented with where taste ends and vulgarity starts in the beginning of this century, but the fact that this is not an experiment but a serious proposition makes it lean heavily towards vulgar and tastelessness.
BTW, are they trying to make up for the fact that John rarily sent a bridal gown down the runway by now sending 6 out?

It's strange.
Dior's playing off the very core ideas that Galliano utilized to define Dior into the 21st century (that sort of orchestrated haphazardness). It's sad seeing that idea be abused into messy chaos.
There are maybe- 5 or 6 looks that look pretty good, but the rest of the collection drags everything down...
Say what you want to say, I am adoring this! Of course it's not the classic Dior collection you'd expect but that's what a change is. It's a breath of fresh air after all those similar dull collections Galliano designed for the past few years. The accessories are ah-mazing! And so is the cast
