The more I see of the Klimt references, the shapes, embroideries, even the flattened afros, the more I wish he had used those gorgeous Klimt colors instead of the super brights.

I agree. The bright colours propel this into tacky territory.

reading Kathy Horyn's blog yesterday i did believe, as she suggested, that Galliano prepared something simplier than his recent collections. maybe you can never guess what is 'simplier' for Dior but i can tell almost no difference in the whole aesthetic from the previous two couture shows. updated Couture Couture - that's what it is. i suppose it's not the most creative and daring (as Suzy Menkes mentioned - kudos to the Girl for being such a fashion KILLAH), but when i think of all the craftsmanship put in those gowns, all the work with the fabrics, the cut, the embroidery, the beading - it's just overwhelming. Maybe sometimes too much means TOO MUCH and I was really keen to see something simple (which you could hope to see just because of the ss runway show which was much easier than the previous ones), but... maybe this was not the right time to move forward, maybe the clients will be happy with the steady pace the House keeps, maybe this is the part of a new strategy of making a brand image look more mature and solid... who knows. there are few terrific outfits and almost every outit is just BEAUTIFUL (in any possible way the real DIOR COUTURE can be). i believe Galliano is a real Gallianeious and we cant take that from him. anyway i'm much more pleased with this collection than the last one which DID look like a drag show (forgive me, Linda). love the set, the casting, love Dior ON ACID (it looks fun, much more positive than Armani Prive). and, what IS important. these dresses WILL SELL. what more can LVMH ask for?

ps don't want to be mean by any chance, but i'm just loving these reminiscences for the headdresses:

I love it. The detailing is beautiful and it reminds me of Gustav Klimt.

The detailing as always is incredible.

But I feel like I'm having deja vu with just about all the dresses.

Quite dissapointing. I was expecting something more new and creative...

Some of the prints are amazing, but I hardly feel inspired.
